Tarot A-Go-Go
Oh, gods, I am so tired.
That said, I had a very nice evening yesterday.
I was on my way home and decided “Y’know what? I’m going to stop by Umi on the way home. It’s a sunny, if rather chilly, day and I want to sit in a warm room, drinking a hot drink, and listening to people being social around me.”
So this was my plan.
And then I ran into Wyrdwolf, who was going to the same place. So we wandered down to Umi Café, sat in the booth (where Raynedaze’s art is being featured! It is gorgeous. Particularly “Belaboured”. I wonder if she does prints of these things…) and chatted.
We ended up doing divination and talking about ghosts.
I did a tarot reading for each of us, and he did a rune casting for himself (to clarify the tarot reading) and one for me – which led to another one to clarify the first one, and a three-draw to clarify one of the stones in the second one.
Whee!
Then I did another (Q&A) reading with extra cards (the kind that fly out of the deck) for added information.
Which is what led to our discussion on ghosts. (Apparently Sara has a bitch of an interfering busy-body haranguing her and telling her she’s sinful and doing stuff that’s Wrong and Bad… from the Otherworld. Wretched. :-P And, possibly because Sara’s not entirely insensitive to these things (unlike me – it pretty much takes a board to the face to get me to notice something non-corporeal is talking to me), the bitch is kind of getting through. Bother. Suggestions?)
Anyway. My tarot reading – I was in an inordinately good mood – basically went:
Me: Tell me something good. Tell me something good about where I’m at and where I’m going.
Cards:
Signifier: Turning In (4 of Cups)
Past: The Burden (6 of Swords)
Effect of the Past: Rebirth (10 of Swords)
What I “Learned” (got from the situation): Stress (Seven of Wands)
Present Situation: Harmony (10 of Cups, reversed)
Immediate Future: The Master, reversed
Effect of the Immediate Future: Healing (King of Cups)
Outcome: No-Thingness (5 of Major Arcana – The Hierophant)
Advisor Card: Participation (4 of Wands)
Which looks to me like something good. :-)
Signifier:
This card actually flipped over on top of the deck before I started dealing.
This is the “where I’m at, internally” card. It’s pretty self-explanatory (“turning in”) and I rather hope it’s accurate.
The “Past” trio is, I think, my relationship with my ex. At least the presence of the 10 of Swords (“Rebirth”) suggests that the effect of whatever Burden is being referenced was quite cataclysmic. And it’s not like I wasn’t stressed all to hell both in the lead-up to the split and during the months between ending my marriage and getting moved out of the ex-marital home. Plus there’s plenty of baggage lying around my head from it, too.
So that’s my guess on that one.
Present Situation: Mmm… I like this card. The ten cards are culmination cards. What I get from this is “I’m in a pretty good place, emotionally, even though it may not feel like that right now”. It could also be a reference to, like, coming to the end of one emotional cycle before starting a new one. Or something.
I’m open to other interpretations, if anyone’s inclined to drop them my way.
The “Future” trio is… encouraging. Also blindingly obvious, though this doesn’t bother me at all. I am *all* for getting myself fixed via help with some sort of a mentor-figure (therapist? Possibly?) so that I can get to a point of “unlocking the truths that bring freedom” (to quote the Little Purple Book’s description of the 5 of MA) and actually start achieving all my freaking potential.
Which I think is what the Advisor card is about. Partially about being in the world and participating in life, but more-so about taking an active role in my own healing process (well, duh – not gonna happen otherwise). Jaknow? :-)
