Costumes A-Hoy! :-)

I figured out what my Hallowe'en costume is going to be.

I'm going to be Winter.

This basically means that I'm going to wear my wedding gown and a mask.

But. It's a really cool mask!

It's just a little harlequin-style half-mask from Michael's, but I covered it with tinfoil so that it's silver.
There's silver sequins around the eye-holes (which I enlarged significantly) and silver gauze across the eye-holes so that the eyes actually look blank. It's kinda creepy to look at yourself in the mirror and not actually have your reflection able to look back at you, if you will.

There are silver ribbons and plastic (tree ornament style) icicles hanging at the temples, and there is a big silver tear-drop thing (off a necklace I got from a second hand store in, like, 1999) in the middle of the forehead.

There is also a hair piece -- which is nine long, wide ribbons (about 1.5" wide x three feet long) of white mesh with little fuzzy silver stripes (sort of) stittched to a hair elastic with a sprig of silver and white holly glue-gunned to it. (I love having a glue-gun! It makes crafts easy! :-)

Lastly, there is the head band. Which is silver gauze (the same stuff I put over the eye-holes of the mask) with silver-&-white holly sprigs glued all over it.

I need to get a new set of hair sticks (one of my old sticks broke, and I can't seem to get all my hair up with just the one stick. Alas. I know it's possible, it's just not sticking right for me).
So perhaps I'll get a set in silver (or chrome, or clear plastic, or what-ever) as well, so that I can put my hair up under the ribbon-thing. :-)

(Hm... and potentially some silver glitter... Or not... But it's been a while since I wore glitter. :-)

Anyway.
That was my fantastical creation for yesterday. :-)

(I also -- finally -- switched out my summer wreath for my autumn wreath. Took me long enough. So now there are billowing autumn leaves gracing my door. I think I may pay a visit to Michael's this afternoon and pick up some more wreath-making matterials. I've currently got the leaves wrapped around a grape-vine wreath, and the combined bulk means that the wreath gets a bit smushed against the screen door. So getting a wire hoop or something similar and transfering the leaf-vine might be a good thing to do. :-)

Whee! Making stuff! :-D

Time to get ready for work, I think. :-)
