Went to see Geeta Chandran dance (Bharatanatyam) last night, with Reyl. :-)
It was awesome.
In fact, I will be using 'awesome' as a descriptor for the remainder of the post, just to give you an idea of *how* awesome it was. :-)
The above quotation is from (or at least paraphrased from) a humorous poem making fun of Siva. :-D
I think it's awesome that such a type of poetry exists. :-)
The dance for Nata Raja was intense and awesome and gripping, as well it should have been. Very well done. :-D (It was my favourite). :-)
She danced to a spoken-word piece - "There He Goes, Just Like Anybody Else" - which the MC read (and read very well). The words and the dance moved together beautifully. :-)
I also think that it's really cool that the show starts and ends with a prayer (the first, sung; the last, danced). That's really neat. :-)
