In further blogging news, I've been going a little bit Wordpress-crazy of late.
In addition to my sex-gender-kink-feminism-activism-porn blog, Syrens (which now has a dreamwidth feed - the link goes to it), I also have:
Urban Meliad, which talks about urban agriculture, foraging, animism, cooking, food preservation, and paganism.
AND
Voices of Venus, which is the online presence (though we're also on facebook and twitter) of the monthly women's spoken-word and live-lit show I co-organize. (I talk about shows and artists and upcoming events there and also do book reviews of Canadian women poets - and probably fiction-writers, eventually.
Deakat made me the feeds for the latter two (thank you!).
- TTFN,
- Amazon.

I remember you've made masks. Can you give me any tips on how to make a passable mask quickly? I want to wear a mask on Monday to protest the veil ban, and the shops are already closed until then. Of course I'd only think of it after 8pm on a Saturday in Flanders!

Mix up a flour-and-water glue (very smooth - use a whisk)
Tear up strips of news paper.
Lay them over your face the way you would if you were doing a plaster cast (5+ layers). Start by laying a piece down the length of your nose, and two more across your face, width-wise, at your forehead and your cheekbones. Then go from there.
Allow to dry in place
Peel off mask, leave it to cure over night. (Give yourself a good scrub to get all the goop off your face - it feels pretty gross, I don't mind telling you).
Punch/drill/something holes for strings in the side
Paint, if desired (and allow to dry again).
Done! :-D
Good luck with the protest! :-D

I ended up not doing it for Monday because of lack of materials, etc, but I'm totally going to try out this mask-making thing!

There's also a way you can turn a t-shirt into a Ninja Mask (tm). I think you can find instructions for that on YouTube, but I'm not sure.
