So... Paul came to see me on Friday morning (at about 8am) before he went to work.

It was such a lovely surprise. :-) <3 :-)

He got me a locket with our picture in it. :-) (A pretty little silver thing. Very nice. :-)

We went out for pizza at the Newport on Saturday night (after I'd got home from MTL). Mmm... Newport! -- Corner of Richmond & Churchill, lots of Elvis paraphenalia, *really yummy food*! :-)

It turns out that he also made me a little "happy birthday" CD -- I haven't listened to it yet --> I expect it's something like him singing Happy Birthday while accompanying himself on the guitar. :-)
We shall see. :-)

Perhaps we will go and see the new Matrix movie today. :-) (We were going to go last night, but we missed the 7pm-ish showing, and all the rest were later than we wanted to be out).

Anyway.

In other news: Went to the opera (McGill student production) -- "The Return of Ulysses (sp) to Ithica" (or something to that effect -- Basically the last bit of the Oddisy (sp) done Roman style) -- It was a baroque opera, with a baroque orchestra (that was really cool! Lutes are humongous! Wah!) and minimal costuming and sets. Some nice singers coming out of there. :-)

However: To my embarasment, I fell asleep. I nodded off during the last 20/30 minutes or so. Gah! What a fool I am! <:-( (In my deffense, the opera wasn't boring, I was just exhausted -- Not much of a deffense, I realize) -- But the parts I heard were good. :-) Anyway. My friend Ami got me a loverly gift certificate for Chapters -- Which will most likely be going towards Kushiel's Avatar (once it comes out in paper-back), or else towards a good cookbook like the "Whole Foods Guide" or something like that. :-) My sister got me Wee Free Men (Yay!) by Terry Pratchett (Yay!) which I will get around to reading once I'm done with the Kushiel book(s). (She also made me peanut-butter pie using my room-mate's recipe! :-) Kushiel's Dart, btw, is turning out to be phenomenal! :-) That little bit about the Showing that Phedre (the main character) and her fellow pupil get to see after they've been initiated as a Servant of Namaah? I am *so* impressed with how the author wrote that passage! Not only was she able to describe sex with respect and beauty, she was able to describe it with reverence! It made me cry, it was so well done! <3 :-) And talking of Religion: Who saw that gorgeous Moon last night? :-) Driving home from Montreal (listening to CD2 of the Dead Can Dance set my Mom got me -- It's called "Wake", as it turns out), we were going straight west, right into the sun (which was rather painful, to tell you the truth), however, when we turned to the north, we could look out the left window and see, over the trees, the rose-copper after glow of the setting sun, while out of the right window the Moon was rising, glowing white gold in the blue-pink of the eastern sky. Yow! That was awsome! :-) And then, walking home with Paul from the Newport, I looked up and saw that the Moon was mostly covered in shadow (7:36pm, at that point) with a crescent gleaming very brightly along the edge of the shadow. Also very cool! It was as if She were wearing a very gauzy black veil over Her face. :-) Wow. :-) And thus has gone my birthday weekend. :-) All is well. :-) Now I will go and read a bit more of my book. :-) Mmmm... Book... :-) - Nam'ara, - Amazon. :-)
