Well, the dress got made. Yay! :-)

Paul said that he couldn't see the mistakes, so that's a good sign. (Granted, he doesn't sew, so possibly it's *not* a good sign, after all). But, either way, it got done. :-)

The wedding was lovely. :-)

Paul and I took notes. ;-)
(Our parents are getting their notice that they will all be making little blurb-speeches during the reception. They've got two years. They'll think of something to say. ;-)

Ami *made* her own Chupa!! Out of crochet!!
Yowza! I am *so* impressed!! :-D

It only occured to me on Monday morning that I hadn't actually eaten any of the wedding cake.
I did, however, eat the apple pie and the lemon bars, both of which I was told were not to be missed. :-)

I've decided that I'm going to have to come up with a potatoes-and-mushrooms Welington recipe. That pastry wrap that the chicken was in was *really* good. :-) (So was the salad. I love baby spinach! :-)

There was dancing. We did the Time Warp.
They played 'Can't Help Falling in Love with You' (Yay!), which Paul and I danced to, quite happily. :-)

Ami --> I'm curious to know what the significance of your First Dance song was. :-) (With a beat like that, I was expecting you two to be tangoing all around the floor! ;-)

Anywhoo. That was Sunday night.

Monday involved sleeping in until 8am. And then sleeping in some more until 11am. :-)
Which was good.

Then Paul and I went mini-golfing with our friends Jo and Keith. Keith and I both got a hole-in-one. Which shocked the hell out of me, I have to tell you (well, at least my getting one did. :-)
We are now toying with the idea of having a pan-Ottawa mini-golf tour. I may have to make some sort of silly prize to be awarded to the grand total winner. :-) (So far, Paul is in the lead. ;-)

After our mini-golf afternoon, we went to a chain restaurant called Casey's. (At the Gloucester Centre). There were veggie burgers all around, and we all had a good yak. :-)

After that, Paul and I went to see Hero -- the Jet Li film that tells part of China's mythic history. :-)
(Mandarin with sub-titles).

Go and see Hero.

I mean it.

It is beautiful! The cinematography is gorgeous, the costuming is really neat (the different parts of the story are colour co-ordinated to match the colours of China's five elements).

I must now go and rent Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (same dirrector, some of the same cast) which I haven't seen in its entirety yet.
But the bits of it that I saw were just as lovely. :-)

I've decided that these artsy-Kung-Fu movies are just lovely. :-) Whee! :-)

That concludes my weekend. I have to phone U of O to find out if I have a TA job. (Ask your gods to help me, please!)

What I did this morning:

Slept in.
Snuggled with my honey-man.
Ate toast and yoghurt for breakfast.

Walked down to Rockland Textiles (near Paul's house) and perused the their bridal fabrics section.

My dress is going to cost me about $350 to make. (Not counting all the practice runs, but including the veil and the head-piece and, of course, the lining and all the notions).

However, that's about 1/10th of what it could cost me to buy using the same fabrics.
So I'm not too put out about it.

Today I got bra-tape (hooks-and-eyes on a long tape, so that they're all evenly spaced. A totally excellent invention, if I do say so myself!) and plastic covered-boning.
And a McCalls pattern for the dress. :-)

I've got a heap of broadcloth in my fabric cupboard, which I will used to make practice-dress #1.

(When it's done, I will cover it in light-weight chains and funky pendants, and have an awesome clubbing gown. Yay! :-)

I have swatches of the dress fabric (royal blue silk duppionie) and the veil fabric (royal blue crystal organza -- It has *sparkles* in it! :-)

I think the wreath to-which the veil is attached will be made of dollar-store blue, dark blue, and (possibly) purple roses and rose-buds.

The garter is going to be red. And very swish. (I'm thinking deep red velvet ribbon, stiched to a strip of wide elastic, and decorated with red-and-gold fringe, and red rose-buds).

I'm hoping to find a navy-blue strapless bra and garter belt (for not *too* much money) that I can decorate up with more rose-buds. I'll have to make the bodice first, though, so that I can make sure the lingerie works with the dress. :-)

And that is all of my weekend/wedding news. :-)

Off to phone U of O now. :-)

- Nam'ara,
