I have 18 squashes.
Ye Gods.
I don't know how many of them will actually make it to maturity/ripeness, mind you. Hopefully all of them, though. :-)
I made a nice cucumber salad yesterday. These are the ingredients:
From the garden:
Cucumber,
Spearmint,
Nasturtiums,
Purple Basil,
Garlic Chives.
From the pantry:
Garlic,
Yoghurt,
Lemon and Lime juice,
Taragon (because I couldn't find my taragon plant under all the mint),
Cayenne Pepper (just a tiny bit).
Paul and I are going to a concert tonight. Some band playing at Barrymores. I don't know who they are. (Paul's brother sent him tickets for his birthday -- I'm not sure how to describe the band, but it doesn't sound too bad given the one or two tracks that I've heard).
I got to see my sister yesterday, which was nice. I'd like to see more of her. I may see what I can do to take a day-trip down to Montreal for a visit.
For Paul's birthday (which is Monday) we are having his family over for dinner. I'm going to make the following:
- Cheese and crackers (and probably sliced cucumber) for an appetizer
- Chilled Raspberry Soup,
- Vegetarian Torta -- with mushrooms, pinenuts, romano beans, artichoke hearts, red peppers, brocolli (sp), spinach, and soft goat cheese (possibly some soft tofu as well) and maybe some other stuff, too. :-)
- Garden-fresh steamed beans and peas. (I may have to supliment this with store-bought beans... I don't want to, but I don't know if I have enough... We shall see...)
- Vegan Chocolate Mousse with raspberry-lime coulis.
- Drinks will be Cave Springs off-dry Reisling (very yummy) and/or Five-Berry fruit juice (100% juice, from PC). There may also be a red wine available, since the soup has red wine in it. Again, we shall see... :-)
Anywhoo. I'm hungry, and I've got to make dinner. :-)
- Nam'ara,
- Amazon. :-)
