I have harvested my squash.
Final tallies:

Four Pepper Squash
Three Canada Crooknecks (These are Enormous!)
Two Butternut
Two Pie Pumpkins
Six Carnival (miniature ornamental-edibles -- Good for single servings and/or stuffed squash)
Three Gold Nugget (Baby Hubbards)

Also: One unrippened Carnival, and One unrippened Canada Crookneck (or Butternut -- Not sure...)

Lastly: Two Carnival + One Butternut --> Lost due to too much gnawing by critters. May be slightly rotten. Not sure. (Am leaving them out for the critters as: (A) clearly they like them, and (B) I don't think I'm going to be able to use them, and (C) I've got enough anyway. ;-)

So. Twenty ready-to-eat squashes for me. :-D
Score! :-D

Next year I hope to add "baby delecta" (not bad. Not so good as, say, butternut, but not bad) + "Buttercup" (and possibly "Ambercup") and "Blue Ballet Hubbard" (which you need an axe to open). :-)

I still have the very last of the beans to take down, but that'll probably happen next week. :-)

In other news: I have attempted to transplant my Clamatis (because it didn't seem to be doing too well where it was -- although the roots, as it turns out, had taken hold pretty well... Hm...). We'll see if that works out at all. :-)

Also: I have cut down all the now-empty squash vines. (What a huge pile that made!) And, conveniently, topped up my compost pile on the day when people were putting out big bags of yard-waste to be taken away by the city. Hehehe. Good thing I got to them first. :-D So I now have a compost heap that measures about 2.5-3 feet deep by four feet square. Which should compost moderately quickly. :-) Tra-la! :-D

So... Now all I need to do is plant my bulbs. (I think I'm going to make a little bank of scilla and chionadoxa on the edge of a hill-like piece of my yard... Closer to the back of the hill, so that they can still get some light once I plant next year's squash in front of them. ;-)

Question to any gardeners out there:
If I froze my bulbs inside of ice-cubes, would that be a problem for them in terms of germination? (I'm thinking in might (A) disguise their scent, and (B) discourage the squirrels who have already started digging around looking for foods to nibble). Any ideas? :-)

Anywhoo. That's all from me. :-)

- Nam'ara,
- Amazon. :-D
