I now feel a need to yack about Rosemary Radford Ruther, just because she turned up so pale on this thing. :-)

Rosemary Radford Ruther is a feminist christian who (way back in the year I was born) wrote about the link between how Western Society treats women and how it treats the Earth -- that whole female/male nature/culture dichotomy and how it lead to the destruction/exploitation of the land as well as women (although for that side of the coin, one can look to Mary Daly and her fun way of writing).
Ruther is an eco-feminist. Ecofeminism is a movement that pulls together spirituality/religion, feminist politics, equal rights, and ecology because those who practice it understand that the problems being fought on all of those fronts are stemming from a common ideology (the one that Starhawk calls "power over") that says some people are more valuable than other people (whether that's racial segregation, or divine right of kingship, or unequal marriage, or having someone scream "FREAK" an inch from your face because they're scared of you eyeliner, or finding a "you biggotted cunt" message taped to a lamp-post by a guy(?) who says he's not a preditor and yet is still attacking you(?) (see Torain's lj for that one), or what-ever).

Some Neo-Pagan practitioners of feminist spirituality are (annoyingly <*cough*>) suspicious/distrustful of Ruther because she never walked away from Christianity (see DuFresne, "The Goddess Incarnate" for more information on that front).
Personally, I like what she has to say. :-)

This concludes (for now) my yack about Rosemary Radford Ruther. :-)
