Okay.
I hate the shoe-industry. Like, really, really HATE it.
With a fury and a passion that is litterally making me sick to my stomach.
Sick with rage and frustration. That's me.
So. I want to try making shoes.
Seriously.
I have black denim (among other nifty-cool fabrics that are not leather and, therefore, are not a complete bugger to hand-stitch).
I have poly-boning and plastic mesh (or at least I can get some without too much trouble).
I may not have an invisible-style zipper, particularly not one that's eighteen inches long, but that can be arranged. :-)
I've seen some really cool-looking (possibly Versace) boots made of chopped up denim. I might be able to sort it out.
I have numerous shoes that, while the right size for me, do little other than hurt my feet and leave me hobbling and miserable when I wear them.
I have a glue-gun. I have needles and thread. I have a brain. (I have a drawing of a boot in its component parts -- in theory -- which I can (in theory) translate into a pattern using measurements from my own foot and leg).
I think can figure this out.
Yay! :-D
I think in would have two sides -- by-which I mean it would be lined. Most likely with the same (yay!) durable cotton fabric as it's made of. with extra re-inforcements at the toes ('cause Gods know that I wear out the toes on my shoes like crazy).
Sadly, they wouldn't be water-proof.
They would, however, dry out fairly quickly due to being made of *cotton*. :-D
Hrm... I'd have to pre-shrink the fabric. Very, very definitely. :-)
But I have a hot-setting on my washer, and a hot-setting on my dryer. So I can do that, too. :-D
Whee! :-D
I have a project for the weekend! :-D
- TTFN,
- Amazon. :-D
