I spent most of yesterday shopping. :-)
For our wedding we got a big heap of gift certificates (mostly HBC) and, since our one-year anniversary is only about a month away, I figured it was time to spent them all.
So, Paul and I made a list, and then I went to Zellers for, like, three hours, to see if I could find what was on there.
Most unfortunately the window fans and the upgraded DVD player (one that can do everything our current one can do, including playing burned movies (such as our wedding DVD - AVI and mpeg, among other things) as well as play dual-layer discs - which our current one cannot do.
Because we will have to get window fans and an upgraded DVD somewhere else (future shop and Canadian Tire, respectively), that essentially means that there a big heap of gift-certificate cash that will have to be spent on Other Stuff (stuff that we'd get anyway, but instead will be getting from Zellers or The Bay - like, say, cookies and juice, socks, a new bathing suit, etc).
The haul:
- A "brushed steel" floor lamp! (Would have preferred 'wood', or even 'bronze', given the colourscheme of the living room, but: Yay! I now have a reading light in the living room! I can use *one8 light-bulb instead of six!)
- A new CD rack (super-dark brown 'wood' (chipboard & laminate) that holds ~230 CDs).
- A new laundry basket for Paul (his was completely wrecked, and has been for some time)
- Eyeshadow, lipgloss, nail polish, and makeup-remover pads for me
- A bunch of othere odds and sods (cookies, underclothes, garden seeds, etc).
I finally booked my birthday pedicure - seven months later ;-) - so I will be back in the Billings Bridge neck of the woods on Tuesday. I will likely pick up a wire-rake and/or a few other odds and sods while I'm there. :-)
We also picked up "Casino Royale" - which is a really good movie, I think :-) - from Rogers' (also using a wedding GC - which has, like, $2.91 left on it. I may put it all towards a hagendaaz bar, to tell you the truth).
We have a little $150 in HBC gift certificates left - some of which will go towards getting me a new compact at the MAC counter ni the Bay Redeau, I think. I confess, I'm rather disappointed: My flatware seems to have been discontinued. :-\ (This leaves me with 16 place-settings for china, and only 12 place-settings for flatware. This is possibly more distressing than it should be. ;-) But. I will be going to Brunch tomorrow, and can stop by the Bay @ Saint Laurent and see if they have any left kicking around. (Think good flatware vibes for me, if you are so inclined. ;-)
In other news: I am dying my hair. I haven't put the dye in yet (that may be either a Sunday evening or a Tuesday morning thing to do, I'm not sure yet), but the dye has be purchased and is sitting in my bathroom going "Strand test! Do a strand test!" so I will, shortly, have burgundy hair. :-) (Or at least somewhat burgundy hair -- I only got one box, as I wanted to just brush the stuff through and see how much minimal coverage I could squeeze out of it. ;-)
Note: hair dye = cheaper @ Zellers than @ Shoppers Drug Mart.
Also: I now have an HBC Rewards Card (because they're free. Woo. ;-)
Also: My fingernails have been painted bright turquoise, just for the heck of it. :-)
Anyway. I desperately need to have a shower 'cause I feel icky-icky-sticky due to the heat and humidity. Then it's off to work, followed by off to Art in the Park to check out Ami_B's spectacular stained glass extravaganza (you all should go - her stall in basically at the corner of Clemow & O'Connor, and it runs until 5pm today and tomorrow. There will, of course, be other artists as well. :-)
- TTFN,
- Amazon. :-)
