Thing the First:
Blaqk Audio doesn't suck. (Which, granted, doesn't surprise me). It actually reminds a bit of Depeche Mode in flavour. Depeche Mode that's been, um, remixed over a somewhat VNV-Nation-esque dance-beat.
I like 'em. :-)
So if you like Depeche Mode or VNV Nation (or AFI, for that matter, since it's Jade and Davey doing this project) you should check them out. :-)
"Bitter For Sweet" and "Wake Up, Open the Door, and Escape to the Sea" are pretty tracks, the latter, in particular, has a lovely melancholy going on. Very pretty. :-)
"Mute" is cute and fairly dance-floor friendly (it's got handy, random slow bits between the super-fast bits, which lends a nice mix to the piece).

Thing the Second:
I received my copy of Dirt: The Ecstatic Skin of the Earth in the mail yesterday! Woohoo! :-D It is very cool, for all that it has a lot of biblical references. I think it makes a good companion book to Glenys Livingstone's PaGaian Cosmology book. :-)

Thing the Third:
Pagaian Cosmology is, thus far, turning out to be quite good. Granted, I'm only on the first chapter. But it's looking like it'll keep going with the coolness. It's about embodied, nested cosmology wherein cells-we-ecosystem-earth-solar!system-galaxy-universe are are one thing. It combines Pagan cosmology with stuff like the Gaia Hypothesis and quantum physics and other hard-science theories of how the universe Is, and came to be the way it is.

Thing the Fourth:
One Tenacious Baby Mama is a very nifty site.
I find myself wondering why I don't feel attacked when I'm reading it.
As in: Is it because she's talking 'nice' - pulling a lot of punches when she doesn't have to, that sort of thing - or is it because she's talking about sexual conservatism (an area where I can recognize my own issues, even if I can't do so well enough to name them) rather than any of the other Isms wherein I am privileged and she is not.
I haven't figured it out yet, but I'd like to.
I like how, at the beginning, she goes through all the other Isms that she has to deal with, in one way or another, and how they relate to sexual conservatism.

So...
I'm bisexual. But I don't look it. (Not that I know what we 'look' like, I grant you).
I am (a cis woman) married, monogamously, to a (cis) man. As such, I pretty-much read as het.
I enjoy sex outside, but I've only done it once, in a place that was fairly unpopulated.
The thought of being sexually available scares the fuck out of me. (Ha. Literally).
I don't make my living as a sex/skin worker.
While I write buckets of porn/erotica, I haven't published any and, were I to successfully do so, it would be under a pseudonym (so far).
I pretty much fit the bill for sexual conservatism.
(The things you learn in a day...)

Thing the Fifth:
Watch the You-Tube Clip
The woman doing this spoken word piece is both awesome and scary.
Yes, I said scary.
She is awesome and scary in the same way, I think, that Angela Gossow is awesome and scary. As in she is a woman who is being loud and aggressive and not-back-downish in a world where Women Aren't Supposed to Do That.

Thing the Sixth:
Somewhere in my brain, there is a post about Women in Metal. It will get written eventually. This is more or less a note to myself to Think About That for a while. :-)

And now, off to choir. :-)
