Geez Oh Man.

It's, like, 10 after seven in the morning and I'm completely awake. At least, my brain is awake. My body is wonder what the hell is going on and why am I not in my nice warm bed? (Cause I'm wacky, that's why).

I've been thinkin about *dishes* all night!
Gah!

This is what happens when I go to the Bay.

I went there yesterday, after work, to check out china patterns. (It occured to me: Why am I looking at China at Mikasa when we're registering at the Bay?) So I went in to see what they had.

And they do have something that I like. "Athena" (nice, mythological name) has a delicate silver trim in a Greek "key" pattern. "Athena Black" has a much wider trim (in white on black, or black on white, depending on the piece) in the same pattern.
I thoughts. "Hey. That'll work. And I can use the black ones for the serving ware, and the silver ones for the eating ware. That way things won't get totally boring". :-)
And it's the Bay in-house brand, and a brand-new pattern, so it should be around for at good year (Which is what I need it to be around for ;-)

Also, I think I found red-wine goblets that would match/compliment my already existing champagne flutes fairly well, and they'd both go with the china. Yay! :-)

But this is what sent dishes into my head for the past 15 hours.

This, coupled with spending a good half hour (because I'm wierd) trying to match different placemats and napkins with a *towel* because it was the only cobalt blue thing I could find. --> I want my tablecloths to be solid, cobalt blue -- I've decided that white (what am I thinking??) placemats and black, silver-trimmed napkins would be the most elegant. But. Perhaps black placemats w/ silver trim, and white napkins would work better, since most of the dishes are white. Hm... Oo! And I could get a few of those "very casual" solid black cotton (cushioned) placemats to use as hot-pads at formal dinners. :-)
Yay! :-)

The "Melodia" stainless steel flatware (18/10) from Oneida (little dorian column style curly-cues at the bottom) would compliment the china (porcelain, really) well. So would the "Winslow" from Mantles. :-)

Was also looking at Stoneware. (I like the black and dark grey "Hampton/Villa from GlukstienHome -- but it's sold per piece, and I'd want eight of... well, not everything, but many of them. They might wind up costing more than the fine china --> Or I could just go to Loblaws and get the "blue swirl" plates for $39.99 <*shrug*> Still, it would be nice to have someone else pay for this stuff. ;-)

Can you tell I'm looking forward to having matching dishes that aren't second (or third or fourth) hand? Yay! Grown-up dishes! :-) (I feel a bit like my sister when she went out and bought her first pair of non-thrift-store jeans. ;-)

Now all I need is a dining room table (and a dining room, for that matter) that's big enough to seat 12 people. ;-) Currently, reupholstering the seats of my existing chairs in a black and royal blue print might be a nice start, though. ;-)

In other, related, news: My Mom and I are going to look at venues this (coming) week. Probably on Thursday, but Wednesday would work too.
I'm making a list of places that might work. It's not very long, but it's a start.

Also, my Mom had an idea for invitations tht involves printing your own on Card Stock and then decorating them with wallpaper border cut-outs. I think it's kind of cool. :-)

Anywhoo. Today I sew, and try to write the beginnings of a story. (Hahaha).
