I'm thinking of trying to write a story about an Other World and a couple of pre/early teens who get stuck there and have to make their way around the place without dying, and managing to find their way home (while, probably, stopping something nasty from happening to the Other World that is connected, in some way, to their getting sucked into the World in the first place...).
Not sure if anything will come of it, but it might be worth a shot.
Mostly, I just want to write about eating wild food and doing something magical in a landscape with-which I'm familiar (AKA: Ottawa).
This may involve having to visit a crazy aunt for a few weeks in summer while the parents are finalizing a messy devorce. At least, that's as good an excuse as any...
Anywhoo.
In other news, I registered for school today. (Turned out I had time, after all). See, I had to stop by the library to find a book that I returned long ago but that was still listed as being signed out on my card (and of-which I now have my own, somewhat useless, copy because I thought I should get a replacement copy just in case I really had lost the book), and to pay a fine on another book ($8.00 -- Not too bad, but rather annoying, none the less).
So, that done, and with almost an hour to go before work (just over the Laurier street bridge) I stopped by the ARTS building and got myself registered.
Now all I need is to find out what my tuition is. (Hopefully not much higher than I am expecting...)
I took the liberty of mentioning to France (the intelligent advisor-person) that I *really* need a TA job. Twice. With any luck, I'll get one. :-)
I am registered for comps and thesis work. Whether I'll actually end up doing thesis work or not, is now less certain than it was. But. I figured it's a good idea to sign up, just in case work does actually end up getting done (writing-wise, I mean, not research-wise that's definitely going to happen.).
Oo. Paul and I watched "The Messenger" last night. (The Mila Jovovitch movie about Joan of Arc?) It was cool, but weird. We had kind of an interesting talk about messages from god(s) afterwords. Interesting because, well, I *get* (sometimes) messages/signs/responces from the Gods (as one of my interview respondents once put it "Being Pagan is kind of like being Jewish: We talk to God, and God talks back.") Paul may or may not be totally okay with this (I'm leaning towards "not", at the moment, I must confess), but I think that as long as I'm not trying to lead some sort of religious crusade, he'll be okay. ;-)
We also went on a nice walk. :-) Turns out we both like the grass-free lawn idea. :-) I'm happy about that. :-) It means that my grass-free dream-yard is that much more likely to happen. :-) (Granted, he doesn't like fruit trees -- due to his lousy relationship with the apple tree in his parents' back yard -- but I know he's okay with raspberries and blueberries. :-)
Anywhoo. I'm not sure what I'm doing for dinner tonight. I've got a buttercup squash (from the store, not from my yard -- they're not ripe yet), a red pepper, and a big heap of left-over lentil-quinoa mixture. I'm kind of thinking of making another stew... Something with chunks of squash, potato, turnip, and pepper in it... I think that'll work. :-)
Anywhoo. I have to get some typing done before I start dinner, so that's what I'm going to do. :-)
- Nam'ara,
- Amazon. :-)
