Yay!
My new CD just arrived this morning. :-)
It is "Apocalyptica" by Apocalyptica. :-)

Man! Metal + Cellos = The Awesome! :-D

I quite like "Farewell", "Ruska", and "Deathzone". They are lovely and mournful and good. :-)

"Bittersweet" is... well, it grows on you (rather like a fungus, I suppose). Ville Valo (of HIM) wrote the lyrics, and they suit his voice quite well. Unfortunately they don't suit the voice of Lauri Ylonen (The Rasmus) quite so well. His voice is much, much rougher. He does well on the more driven piece "Life Burns", but on Bittersweet, he sounds a bit painful (At least until the drums kick in. Then he and the instruments work much better together. ;-)

"Ruska" is particularly gorgeous. It conjurs up images of sun-dappled water banked by shadowy forests (the mixture of piano and double bass, I think). Seriously. You could use that for a Coureurs du Bois movie sound-track any time. :-)
It reminds me of the land around here. Autumn days when you can't see the Gatineau Hills across the river because the Fog is so thick, or the cliffs around Parliament Hill. Or Vincent Massey Park and the Redeau River. Just lovely. :-)

They are excellent and awesome. :-)
(Also: Pretty. That Eicca looks like an Amazon -- despite being a guy. He's got a lucky wife, that one. ;-)

In other news, I just read a poem by Mohammad Hafiz. Behold, for it is beautiful!...:

Cloak yourself in a thousand ways;
still shall I know you, my Beloved.
Veil yourself with every enchantment
and yet I shall feel you,
Presence most dear, close and intimate.
I shall salute you in the springing of cypresses
and in the sheen of lakes, the laughter of fountains.
I shall surely see you in tumbling clouds,
in brightly embroidered meadows.

Oh, Beloved Presence,
more beutiful than all the stars together,
I trace your face in ivy that climbs,
in clusters of grapes,
in morning flaming the mountains,
in the clear arch of sky.

You gladden the whole earth and make every heart great.
You are the breathing of the world.
