Well, I have to say that it's going to take a hell of a lot of editing to get this thing sorted out, but it seems to be trucking along nicely. Who knew. :-)
I've added a freaky, spooky oracle type character -- the Gunny Lady -- who is sort of like a mobile fragment of the city's fractured soul, if you will, who nests in alleyways and is unaffected by the weather.
She's kind of cool and, basically, she takes up a few scenes worth of word-count. I'd like to keep her in, although she may need one or two more cameos to make her presence a little more justified. :-)
I think I'm also going to have to modify Fox's character (and/or actions) just a bit. I'm not quite sure how though (obviously, I'm not going to be doing this now, this is just a note for after November 30th). ;-)
I think Sam is going to develope a habbit of playing with rubix cubes -- maybe it's something she started doing while she was bed-ridden in CHEO, back when she was ten, and never let go of -- although I'm not sure where I'm going to sneak that in. Somewhere. Maybe.
I think I may end up axing the scene where Sam and Beth have coffee. I can't remember if anything useful got brought up there, or not. It might (eventually) get replaced with Sam trying to call Beth on her cell phone and getting the voice-mail for third time in a row, and giving up, and griping about Beth's stupid boyfriend, or something, and having some sort of resentful reminicence (sp) about how they used to hang out all the time, but now she doesn't see Beth *ever* outside of classes, even though they work on projects together, it's only during class time, and she feels like she's the one doing all the at-home work because Beth is always of with Kyle, who she never shuts up about, etc. etc. etc.
Which, I grant you, would work better if Sam were being written in first-person, instead of third-person-limited. But still. :-)
Anyway.
Things to think about. Later.
Right now, I have go and write 700+ words about Sam waking up in the early afternoon and freaking because she slept in so late. Or something.
