So... I've been thinking about heteronormativity and male/masculine-centric society, and the idea of "men's studies". I'm not sure where that's going to go, but it's on my mind.

I find myself thinking that an Our Bodies, Ourselves for guys would be a good idea.

I mean, part of me is going "But wait, wait! Aren't, like, 90%+ books about sexuality and anatomy written from a male perspective, anyway?"
But the rest of me goes: "Yes, but: They're written from a heteronormative, faux-objective, masculo-normative stand-point that's probably, if not definitely, not taking into account things like:

- The continuum of male sexuality (or sex, or gender, or, or, or)
- The interest that guys have in sex that *isn't* all about penises
- How to keep track of and/or maintain male sexual health (or health in general)
- All the other stuff that isn't occuring to me, but that the guys reading this can feel free to weigh in upon.

See, I'm really, really glad that I've got a copy of Our Bodies, Ourselves sitting on an easily accessible shelf because any of my potential daughters can find it and sneakily read it and get the whole 'enjoying sex doesn't make you a slut, kissing girls doesn't make you a freak, not wanting to screw around doesn't make you frigid, etc' thing from something other than me and/or their dad.

It would be nice if my potential sons could have the same type of good quality, accessible, easy-to-follow information source so that they would get the same message from someone other than me and/or their dad.

Anyway, that's about where my head's at right now. :-)
