Last night was awesome!
Hexpiritus came over and we (by-which I mean *they*) made a poster for Voices of Venus (I'll put it up here when I'm home and have access to photo-bucket again -- but it's GORGEOUS).
Then Hex and Sara and I went out to Zaphod's for dancing -- except that we turned up an hour too early, so we went over to The Lookout and sang karaoke for a little while to kill time.
Hex sang "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" (sweet!) and Sara sang "Angel" (<*wibble*>) and I sang "Hallelujah" -- which I've been just dying to perform for years now, and I finally got to, and it was wonderful! It was so much fun. (I was shaking like a leaf the entire time, right from when I wrote the song-choice down until a few minutes after I'd done my performance, but still! AWESOME! :-D)
Sara gave me this huge, long hug afterwards which felt just amazing. :-)
The only damper (other than the bar being less-than-cool with accepting a passport as ID -- WTF???) on that part of the evening was the drunken loser who had a Thing for tall women. Seriously. Sara eventually just pushed him away before he could try to talk to her again -- at which point I *think* he got the picture. But that was, like, attempt #3 with her. He was a little slow on the uptake, you might say.
(I grin, because Hex was sitting on their macho-self saying "Duuuuuuude... they're Amazon Destroyers! They can *totally* take care of themselves. You do not need to be all up in that loser's face about this." And I do rather appreciate the entirety of that sentiment. ;-)
But, yeah. Karaoke = AWESOME! :-D
(And, once again, I say: I need to get out to the Shanghai one of these Saturdays!)
Anyway. After that, we popped over to Zaphod's and danced up a storm! Wahaha! :-D
FYI: I can totally see how Sara can hold her own in a mosh pit. Woah. Do not get within three feet of this woman when she's rocking out to something agressive.
It was a blast!
I haven't been able to bend and twirl and shimmy and generally fly like that in a LONG time. It felt really, really good to just let go and dance like that! :-D
Anyway. Eventually, my girl pulls out her phone and it's three minutes to midnight[1] so we danced through a couple more songs, and then the three of us headed home (entirely because I had to work today).
We headed out.
Let me tell you. A couple of gals wandering around with unusual hair-dos, leather coats, acres of legs and really high heels definitely generate some attention[2]. (Not all of it possitive -- some random dude commented to his friend "Probably guys" while looking at us <*eye-roll*>... not so much a damper on the evening as a "Look, kids! Losers!" moment).
We got a bus home, stopped in at Pizza Shark for food (or a reasonable facsimile there-of), courtesy of Hex. And then went home to eat pizza and drink orange juice.
YAY! Food and Juice! :-D
And then we crashed.
Quite the excellent night, says I. :-D
- TTFN,
- Amazon. :-)
[1] I believe there's a song by that name...
[2] Handy cover for Ninja!Hex. ;-)
