Well, I got some... interesting... news last night.

Our tenant has given his notice. He's moving out in either March or April (depending on the weather and when he finds a place, I assume).

This involves making some changes to my plans for new furniture.

See, in the basement room, is my Enormous Desk.
And, since we'll have that space to ourselves in just a few short (in theory) months, there's not much point in me buying another desk if I'm only going to get that one back.

Paul and I will have to have a talk about how we're going to do all that, of course.

See, our original plan was to have a tenant until I was heavily pregnant and then Paul and Some Strapping Young Person would basically scrub the basement room sparkling and move the office equipment downstairs, while the former-office would become the soon-to-arrive baby's room (complete with a came-with-the-house hedge-hog-themed wallpaper border).

However since baby plans are (thank you, all my dear, sweet Ladies) mercifully on hold for now, this will not be the case.

Which means we have an empty room available for Something.

Now, if I were Paul, I would be thinking to myself "Y'know, it'd be pretty awesome to have an office, with a client-space, that could be entered without dragging the client through the rest of our house." (I have to agree with this, myself, personally).

Likewise, *I* (speaking as myself, now) think it would be pretty awesome to have an office that could also house all of my sewing and crafting stuff - because that would get it the hell out of our dining room and into a more private space, where it belongs.

With both of those things in mind, it would make sense, therefore, for Paul to take over the basement room.
He could use the Enormous Desk, and we could drag the Enormous Bed back into the 'spare' room, and he could put a new (or "didn't come with the bed") mattress on it (possibly filling the end in with a bolster pillow, perhaps made by me for just that purpose).
This would, incidentally, give us back a significant amount of space in our storage room.

Meanwhile, I would shift Paul's current desk (the one that belonged to his Dad - which could be a reason why this plan might not work out) to the location currently occupied by my too-rickety one, and he and I could haul the (now accessible) sewing-table up from the basement storage room and I could set up my sewing machine properly for the first time, um, *ever*. And maybe convert the closet into a fabric cupboard (thus giving me a lot more space in the *linen* cupboard for, y'know, linens) and maybe pick up a cheap-o free-standing cupboard for crafting goodies and notions from Canadian Tire and/or some bolt-to-the-wall shelves or similar from the same place... and then he and I would each have our own space. Which would be handy.

The down-side of this, though, is as follows:

Paul and I both spend most of our free time doing various things on our respective computers.
Which is all fine and good when we're doing so in the same room.
But if he's downstairs, and I'm upstairs (the temperature factor would work nicely in that set-up, I have to admit -- I'm always cold, and he's always warm, and the basement is the coolest room in the house) then we won't actually see all that much of each other.
Which would pretty much suck.
Really.
That said, we could have fun instant-messaging each other and, like, sending goppy love notes and so on to each other, and that sort of thing. Which I think would be cute and romantic and stuff (but which is probably not nearly as neat and chirpy as I think it is).
Anyway.
That little conundrum is what's currently putting a damper on things in terms of moving the furniture around.

But that's what's on my mind right now. (Good thing I didn't order that new desk, now isn't it? ;-)

Time to go and eat some dinner (Paul's at Aikido tonight, so I'm having sausages).

Later, I shall post the next chapter of "Live Truly, My Heart" (more than two months after the last one went up, on Hallowe'en).
