Hallo! :-D

I have packed seventeen boxes of stuff in the past two days (and two hours, if you count the one box I did this morning).

More stuff needs to be packed.

I am weeding out bits of stuff to get rid of, too. Because I've still got a few bits and bites that I really don't need -- most of them (1/3 of a house full of them, no less) are already gone, though. Thank goodness!

My mom is - alas - getting rid of most of her elephants collection.
Part of me is really rather heart-broken about this. Mostly because she's had them all my life (and I've been contributing to the herd, so to speak) and I was hoping -- in that vague "some day" sort of way -- to be able to keep my (currently 100% imaginary) children entertained/occupied chez Grandma's by telling them to go count and/or name her many, many (well over a hundred) elephants of various shapes and sizes.

That said, once she moves in w/ her fella, I (and my sibs) can quietly start giving her Elephant Everything again, and his house will be OVER RUN with ELEPHANTS! :-D

Mwahahahaha. :-)

Things to do today:

Get groceries, including vanilla yoghurt for a make-shift strawberry shortcake dessert.

Get more poetry from the Library and return some books (given that I'm *at* the library, this will most likely get done first).

Wander along Kent Street to see if I can spot any 'for rent' signs between Sommerset and Albert. May wander along Bay and/or Lyon as well. :-)

Pack the books in the office, as well as the contents of my office closet and desk-drawers. (One of the desks, I've decided, is going to go to auction. It's a pretty antique, but my knees don't fit under it, and the drawers are rather small -- I've mostly been using it as shelf-space for the printer and modem and CPU -- and I can get a shelf and/or the floor (OR a laptop) to deal with the space issues instead). Also, if I can swing it, pack the last of the china. The stem-ware will have to wait until I have another long, skinny, shallow box to pack them in... Perhaps a trip to the VQA is in order. They may have some 'late harvest' boxes (or ice-wine, or just plain-old-wine boxes, which-ever) that I can yoink while I'm getting groceries and then use to pack the stemware in. :-)
I've got an awful lot of good dishes, I have to tell you. Perhaps I need to serve pilafs more often... ;-)

Visit w/ Arndis, Tchang and CSI_Tokyo for the evening. This should be jolly good fun. :-)

And, from Pandagon: Gradations of an Anti-Choice Wingnut. Just for the hell of it. :-D

I'm pretty sure my ex-but-for-the-paperwork-husband falls somewhere in the transition between #3 and #5, but is closer to #3.
I'm pretty much a #6, with left-overs hanging on from #5.

<*sigh*>

Reasons why it couldn't work out...

Eugh.

Anyway, time for me to scoot.
