Soooooooooooo...
Had my first therapy appointment today.
It involved filling out a lot of paper work, and not a whole lot else.
Beh.
On the plus side, since they'd like me to come every week (it *is* a practice clinic, after all), they are putting in a request to the dude who runs the clinic to see if they can slide that sliding scale down to $15/hour for me.
How fantastically accomodating is that? :-)
So here's hoping this actually works out. :-)
Likewise, I just wrote a cheque for $10K, which will be (low-risk, decent-growth (in theory), guaranteed) invested in Canadian companies.
YAY bargain hunting! ;-)
So here's hoping that works out, too.
I figure, if everything works out, I will be house-hunting again in the next five-to-seven years.
Which, really, isn't all that bad.
Anyway. that was the business side of my day.
Picked up #8 screws and hung my last shelf (the nick-nack shelf by the front door).
Also went to the Kowloon Market and picked up:
Red Bean steamed buns
tofu (small bucket)
inoke mushrooms (dried)
un-named (in English) dried seaweed (it's rather tough and thick... I think, in future, I will pre-soak it and slice it into thin strips. My favourite, still, is Nori. By a long shot).
yams (two little ones)
miso (finally)
snow peas
and a couple of other odds and sods.
I'll need to get more nori sooner or later but, hey, the store is down the street from me. I'm not in any kind of a rush. ;-)
Made miso-esque soup for dinner tonight. Two kinds of mushrooms, two kinds of sea weed, garlic, red onion, heavy tofu, sesame oil, basil, a little bit of lime... and I'm finding that something is making the broth taste bitter.
Also, I've burned my tongue.
Blast. :-P
Still. Trial and error. (I think it needs more miso paste, as I found the broth to be, other than bitter, kind of on the bland side).
To do tonight: DISHES. Like woah!
May try doing yoghurt again, too, just to see if my hunch is right (it's possible that I just didn't put enough milk-powder into the mix in the first place. So this *could* be easily fixed).
I have plans (not sure when I'll try this, but it's in the plotting stages) to make a sweet-potato pie sort of dealy.
Spring form pan + cooked amaranth crust + layers of sliced mushrooms, baby spinach, sliced sweet potatoes (or yams) garlic mashed yukon gold (or similar) potatoes on the top.
That said, I could pretty easily leave the crust out and just call it "Harvest Pie" or something and enjoy it like that.
Anyway. The plotting continues. :-)
For those who can make it out:
There is a discussion of Sex Work (from the PoV of a sex worker) happening at 2:30pm tomorrow (Wednesday) at U of O -- in the Women's Resource Center, in Morisette. I can't make it (blasted work!) but I wish I could. If anyone else can go, please do so, and give me a full report? :-D
Off and running,
- TTFN,
- Allison.
