So, my mom made me an advent calendar. She picked up the idea from her friend, Sue, who does this wonderful thing where she will send my mom (she started doing this when my dad got diagnosed with cancer, and it just kept going) a present in the mail -- a month or two of "inspirational quotations" - one per day - rolled up with ribbons around them, plus commentary about how the quotation can be applied in everyday life.

Anyway, the advent calendar my mom made is basically the same idea.

So far (and not all that surprisingly) the theme for the month seems to be 'light'. (Fitting, given the occasion, don't you think?)

Anyway. Today's quotation+commentary goes like this:

"Begin doing what you want to do now. We are not living in eternity. We have only this moment, sparkling like a star in our hand and melting like a snowflake."
Marie Beynon Ray

Follow a heart's desire today. Pick up a book, make that call, join that club, pick up that paint brush, start that course. Begin, begin, begin.

So, while today actually involves a lot of continue-continue-continue (cleaning, mainly), perhaps I can wander over to McNabb and look into what they have on offer in January. :-)

Anyway. C'est tout.
