So.

The jelly-making.

I am, by and large, really dismayed? Disgruntled? Disappointed? Irritated? Something fairly negative, anyway, about the whole thing.

Part of this is just because I had no idea how long it would take and rather over-estimated the resulting ammount of jelly I'd be getting for my troubles.

(I also have this suspicion that the jelly is going to be more like tar than anything resembling "easy to spread").

But we'll see how it turns out.

I know it tastes good, at least, which is kind of the important part.

But, yeah. I wish that the grocery store had stocked 250mL jars instead of, or in addition to, the 500mL and 1L jars that they carry. That way, I'd have had three jars of jelly instead of 1.5 which would have meant that I could give one jar each to mom-and-partner household and siblings household *and* had one left over for myself.

As it stands? One house is getting apple-red-wine savoury jelly and the other house is getting the rosehip-crab-apple-and-other-fruits jelly (when I get around to making it, although I think that'll take an entire weekend 'cause I've got to cook the fruit and strain the juice before I can even start the jelly-fiying process).

ANYWAY.

Also it takes quite a while for 4L of water to start boiling, so the first jar of jelly will *actually* be done sealilng in about... 5-8 minutes from now.

The Amazon is grumpy/cranky and Not Amused right at the moment. :-P

<*sigh*>

I have to remind myself that trying new things and not getting them perfect, or even just not getting the results I was expecting, does not make me dumb or stupid or incompetant. :-P

In this case, however, it does make me covered in sticky goo (my skirt, in particular) and sore around the fingers where I got spattered more than a couple of times and also slightly burned by the steam from the jar-boiler.

<*sigh*>

Tired-and-Cranky Amazon is Tired. And Cranky. :-P
