Allison Lorraine Armstrong and Paul Andrew Raven
Would like to announce that:

We are Engaged! :-D

The engagement took place on Tuesday, August 17th at about 10pm (when I picked him up from work) and went as follows:

Paul: So... Do you want to be engaged now, or tomorrow?
<*note: I'd known it was coming, you see... Since September, in fact. ;-) *>
Me: Now! Now! Now! :-D
<*Paul pulls out box, drops to one knee, opens box to
display ring and says:*>
Paul: Will you marry me?
Me: Yes, I will. :-)
<*Allison pulls out significantly less-well-made "box",
drops to one knee, slides ring out into palm of hand,
and says:*>
Me: Will you marry me?
Paul: Yes. :-)
<*Allison slips ring onto Paul's finger, Paul slips
ring onto Allison's finger. Great rejoicing ensues!*>
:-D

And that is how we got engaged. :-)
Yay! :-D We're engaged!!! :-D
(Behold my giggling delight — which, really, is nothing new considering how all of my posts about this relationship have gone. ;-)

Anywhoo.
Due to my lack of both a functioning scanner and any tech-savvy what-so-ever, I will not be posting pictures of The Rock or The Happy Couple (Although Paul took some with his digital camera after we'd done the honours).

Therefore, for those who are interested (those who aren't, skip this bit -- I don't even know how to do an LJ-Cut), here is the description of our engagement rings:

His:
Silver band, ~3mm wide. Engraved on the inside with a "secret message" (Which is not too hard to guess, I grant you. ;-)
He liked it. When I told him I'd had it engraved, he thought I meant on the outside -- so he was very happy to see that it was something just for us to know. :-)

Mine:
Silver band (2mm wide, if that) and setting.
Oval (eliptical?) Rainbow Moonstone with groups of three little silver balls on each side of it. Harder to describe than I thought it would be. But: I love it, love it, love it!

Paul actually had it specially made (well, re-made) for me as the setting I adore was not available with a rainbow moonstone (which I *really* wanted) -- So. He got two rings, one a rose-quartz in the setting I like, and one a rainbow moonstone of appropriate size in a setting that is quite non-descript.

He then took it to a jewellery repair shop on Holland Ave (near Carling, I believe) called... Goldform (I think).

I am here-by advertising for them because they did a *really* marvelous job of (A) putting the stone and the setting together, (B) not wrecking the other stone and setting in the process (I think the rose-quartz in simple silver setting will be a gift to our oldest (possibly only) daughter -- possibly when she gets her period...) and (C) charging *less than $50* for the job! :-D

So, yes. If you need jewellery repaired and/or created (in a way) go see them. They are good, and very professional. :-)

Anywhoo. We're just happy as clams in muck, and are slowly starting the planning of the Big Event. :-)

That being said, I must head off to get ready for my doctor's appointment this afternoon. :-)
