So, I've been out seed-shopping. :-)

I went to loblaws yesterday to get honey and some cut flowers--

I have to ask here: does anyone know if Juniper and Wax Flowers are the same plant? Because I got Wax Flowers -- really nice, sweet smelling, small pink (and sometimes white) five-petal flowers that are very waxy to the touch -- and they appear to be some sort of conifer. The stems were quite woody, and they bore needles rather than disciduous (sp) leaves. Any thoughts?

But, back to loblaws. I also picked up a potted Orange Jasmine plant to keep my other plant ("Other Plant" -- On a wierd note, I keep wanting to give him a name like "spike" or "mister pointy" -- which, in combination, is a little to Buffy-verse for me. I mean, he's not a cactus! He just has pointed leaves...) company. I hope she smells nice. :-)

But, while at the loblaws florist's, I found their garden seeds tray. I didn't even think they'd have it stocked at this time of year.
So. I got a whole bunch of garden seeds. Yay! :-)

These include:

Sugar Snap Peas (or "Candy Peas" ;-)
Scarlet Runner Beans (I've got some already, but I wanted some more)
Early cucumbers
Mesculin salad greens seed mix
Chives, Sweet Basil, Oregano, Rosemary, and Thyme

Woody-stemed Taiyo Sunflowers
Shasta Daisies
Purple Coneflower (Echanecia)
Bee Balm (red, pink and white mix)
Pink Tower columbine
Flying Saucer (blue w/ white rays) morning glories (I'd like to get Moonflower morning glories, which are night-blooming, as well)
Baby Blue Eyes
Queen Charlotte sweet violets

Whee! :-D My mail-ordered seeds should be here by Spring Equinox, and then I can start my early-planting! :-)

Which reminds me: Does anyone know where I can get little easy-to-transplant-from plastic flower pots? For *really* cheap? Like four for a dollar or (preferably) less?
I'm going to be planting everything early -- Either in late March, or at the beginning of May, so that they're already sprouting leaves when I put them in the ground -- That way, the squirels will be less prone to digging them up and eating them (I hope).
But I'll need a good 100 pots or so, so any help would be appreciated. :-) (This being said, I could plant some of them in empty yoghurt containers, so I won't need 100, but I will probably need at least eighty). :-)

Yay! I am so, so, *so* looking forward to my backyard being my Haven of Food and Flowers! :-) Hurrah! :-) A-Gardening I (will) Go! :-D

In other news: Paul and I had a date last night. Pizza and a movie (Van Helsing) -- He's developed a taste for silly vampire movies, and don't mind them, so we had a good time. :-)
I love my Fiance. He is so wonderful. :-D

And, on a fairly unrelated note: The loblaws at South Keys has a special on for boneless, skinless chicken breast, so it's reasonable to guess that most of the loblawses (sp?) in ottawa have the same special.
For those of you who eat chicken, it's worth checking out. :-) I just thought I'd pass it on. :-)

That's all for now. :-)
