I got an unexpected present yesterday! :-)
My friend Amanda (who has just acquiesced to be my Maid of Honour -- Woohoo!) sent me a nifty, nifty birthday present yesterday. :-)
It arrived at work (at lunch), specially delivered by her Dad (who works in the same building). :-)
She got me a really cool looking CD (haven't listened to it yet -- will likely put it on for when Ami gets here for tea, at 2pm) of Aboriginal flute music by a local Toronto artists. I'm very interested to hear "The Call of the Loon", as loons and wooden flutes share a bit of a common sound (only a little bit, but it's there).
She also got me a very pretty pendant -- it is a glass tear-drop with a pink rose carved/blown into/inside it. :-) Is very, very lovely. :-)
I like it. :-)
My Mom got me two CDs -- "Come Away With Me" by Norah Jones, and the complete score of "Les Miserables" -- Which I'm also looking forward to hearing. :-)
My grandparents sent me a very excellent card, also. My Nana wrote in it "Isn't this the perfect verse for you', and it *was*. 'Cause I used to dance (and walk, and run, etc. etc.) on my toes, and it mentions that. :-) I'm quite impressed with their find. :-)
Anywhoo. Thank you notes are in order -- Not that I've ever, in my life, been a "thank you notes" kind of person, but I figure that I'm going to *have* to write them when the wedding gifts start turning up, so it would be a good idea to get into the habbit. ;-)
(I find having pretty stationary that I picked out myself helps with this -- Perhaps I should do that with my kids --> Take them out twice a year to pick out thank-you stationary... Might be an idea. ;-)
Anywhoo.
In other news:
My Mom's best friend of many years, Pat, is holding her annual Xmas party on the 23rd this year.
That is going to be a busy week.
Wednesday = Midwinter/Longest Night -- My fancy dinner (which I'll have to get organizing soon, and send the invitations out, and so on)
Thursday = My annual (at least that's the intention) quasi-drop-in-for-desserts party (see above re organizing and invitations)
Friday = The 23rd. Wherein Paul and I may have more than one party to go to. At the same time! Gah! :-\
Saturday = Xmas Eve w/ my side of the family (heeheehee...). Mom's having a short get-together as well, and then Paul and I spend the night and do xmas morning with Mom and my siblings.
Sunday = Xmas dinner (and gift exchange) w/ Paul's side of the family. :-)
Hah. Yes. Monday = Recovery. :-)
And then I go to work on Tuesday, no doubt. ;-)
Hoy.
But, there we go. :-)
At least I should (I bloody hope) have most of the exams marked by then. :-)
And, last but not least:
Bride's Attendants
Amanda (Maid of Honour),
Christine (My sister),
Katie (Paul's sister).
Groom's Attendants
Zev (Best Man),
John (Allison's brother),
James (Paul's brother).
So that bit's done. :-)
