I just cleaned up my desk. Now, granted, by "cleaned up", I mean "organzied the piles" as much as I mean "got rid of stuff", but still. This is a good thing. :-)
I am currently day-dreaming about going to Canadian Tire to purchase a couple of trellises (sp) and a halogen floor lamp. (For the pre-tax total of $45.00). I'm kin dof thinking of ordering the lamp on-line so that I don't have to deal with dragging it home on the bus.
I've been buying more seeds for the garden.
I now have a genuine sweet corn, as well as my inca rainbow corn, plus some more peas, and another bunch of pumpkins.
I tell ya, I shall not want for pumpkin seeds for the next few years! ;-)
I am so, so , so! looking forward to planting my garden! :-) (Like you all couldn't tell).
Anywhoo. I've sent a notice off to the GEOS English school (where Tomomi & Yuka were studying last year) looking for another tenant. Yes, once again, Paul and I are trying to fill up our extra bedroom in the hopes of making some cash. -- It will make up for my lack of TA job this summer.
Now, granted, I won't be paying tuition this summer, but that also means that I (probably) can't get funding for the conference I'm attending. That, plus Paul's research, plus my field work costs (aka: fest registration), and we will be in need of some extra funds.
So: Anyone who knows anyone: reliable, reasonably quiet, employed & without any pets --> who needs a really cheap ($300 *all inclusive*, meals are your own responsability) place to stay for a few months, send me their e-mail and/or send them mine. :-)
Thanks. :-)
In other news: I have now successfully knitted two placemats.
Next on my list of things to do: Knit a shirt-like garment (we'll see how that goes... There will belaces up the front, and I will have to knit straps, as well. It's made of a sort of rusty/burgundy red cotton yarn. I have two and a half rows (375 stitches) done -- this is for side one. Side two will be mor eof the same. I expect that I need about 100 rows, but I might need more. We shall see. :-)
I also want to get Lucie (who taught me to knit) to teach me to pearl. I've got my needles and my yarn in my bag -- I'm seeing her on Tuesday, so hopefully she'll be able to take two minutes to show me the ropes. :-)
I will pearl another two placemats, and then do some sort of knits-&-pearls (or wacky crochet thing) for a table-runner/huge doily. :-)
This is my plan. :-)
I have a whole bunch of photo-copying to do, as well. Shelley's, Lucie's, and Sian's theses are things I need to read. Shelley and Lucie don't mind if I photocopy theirs.
Which brings me to:
AbsintheHearts, If you're reading this, can I photocopy your PhD disertation? <*looks hopeful*> :-)
Anywhoo. I've got eight more exams to correct, plus a bunch of enumeration to do. Also, I'm writing down the names & ISBNs of all the witch books at the U of O library (that I don't already have) so that I can go shopping. :-)
Sabina Magliocco's "Witching Culture" is really excellent. I recommend it, but it's hard to get ahold of an inexpensive copy. (Alas).
So, that's it for me. :-)
I'm going to scoot and get some breakfast now. :-)
- Nam'ara,
- Amazon. :-)
