So, last night, Paul and I went to Zev and Julie's pre-wedding "Welcome to Ottawa, Let's Meet Everyone" dinner.
It was fun.
There was Pizza and Tirimasu (sp), and I got to have two helpings of salad.
There were also Shavot/Shabat/Shavas (pick a spelling, I'm pretty sure they all work) candles lit at our table. Which was kind of cool.
I had a very cool chat with Willow a formerly (?) Pagan "Kitchen Jew" (she says that it was practicing Wicca that brought her back to Judaism, because the practicality, and the lunar stuff, and all that were so similar). That being said, she does have a patron Goddess (Artemis).
She has a daughter named Freya who is icelandic and, as such, is a "Frozen Chosen" (which I think is adorable, although I expect Freya, who is still in high school, may find it a bit embarasing at times. ;-)
I told her about some of my Gods. Of course, she had never heard of them (because who, other than me, has? ;-) I told her about gardening. I told her about Maia, and I told her about the feather that Makaa left for me to find at the cross-roads when I was on my way to my first real date with Paul. (Thank you Makaa).
Will said to me: You don't know this yet, but: Having kids opens a door. And sometimes just one baby is enough to blow that door open all the way. Here's a tip, so that you don't have to learn it the hard way: Everything is a gift. Everything is gift. *Everything* is a gift.
Now, I grant you, I already knew that one. ;-) (Granted, she was also not the first person to point this out to me). But it's always nice to hear it again. :-)
It was a good night.
Then I was very tired. Now I am a bit groggy, but not bad. Waking up.
Zev and Julie's wedding is tonight.
I have made a card -- that is, taken a blank card with a picture of gold finches (or something) and ehcanecias and black-eyed-susans on the front, and added (I have to find some glue) my traditional wedding blessing to the inside.
We got a gift bag at the dollar store that has something like gerbera daisies (or possibly more echanecias, or possibly both) on it.
All I have to do is stuff it full of tissue paper (and the gifts, of course), and we're good to go. :-)
That being said. I still don't know what I'm going to wear...
I mean, I've got my pretty new sandals (which I'll be bringing in a bag and switching with my walking sandals for the trips to and from the wedding), but I'm not sure what *clothes* to wear.
I'm currently leaning towards my purple sari.
However, if I can find an appropriate top (which will be difficult), I may wear a red batiked full-skirt instead. I think that would be nice...
I'll have to go hunting through my closet...
Anywhoo. Time to go. I have to pay the hydro bill today, too. (Blast it!).
- Nam'ara,
- Amazon. :-)
