A Hopeful Future :-)

I made a romantic dinner for two last night. :-)
I roasted a chicken for the first time. :-)
I made a stuffing of: chopped potato (mashed might have been nice, too), chicken liver, shiitake mushrooms, garlic, shallot, sage, basil, and black pepper.
I cut open one of the carnival/sweet-dumpling squashes from the garden, scooped out the seeds (we are *so* planting more of these next year! Talk about yummy! :-)
I raosted them all together in a shallow bath of spiced apple cider (covered the dish with tin foil to keep the moisture in -- everything was wonderful, although (not surprisingly) the chicken skin didn't get all crispy. Oh well. ;-)
I did baked apples for dessert. :-)

There was candle-light. :-)

Paul and I talked about vaccinating out kids (he's quite a bit against it, while I'm... not willing to risk *not* doing it, either --> at this point we're thinking of doing something homeopathic -- at least while they're very little --> so that they don't rist getting sick from the vaccine, either. We'll see what we're thinking when the kids eventually come along, though).

We had a good conversation. :-) We talked about how we understand the world to work. (Which was nice. And we aren't quite as far-appart from each other, world-view-wise as I was beginning to think. Which is a relief! :-)

It was a really good evening. :-) Nice to re-connect like that. :-)


Last night I dreamed of the garden, of a sunny Summer day (either late in the afternoon, or around 10am -- I don't remember which way the sun was slanting and of stalks and stalks of fava beans (but they were wierd fava beans, because each bean was on an individual little stem (the way the pod is supposed to be). There were heaps of them.
I think squash may have featured as well -- possibly butternut -- but they were in the back ground.

I dreamed of fertile ground and abundance. :-)
I think this is a good sign. :-)
