So Idioglossia has been suggesting that we should do more head-shots of me - specifically that we should do more pictures that involve my hands in conjunction with my face.
She's not sure what she wants to do in this vein, though.

Things I've come up with, which may or may or may not pop her out of her creative zone, thence the cut. )

In other news: I seem to be coming down with something. (At least I've been feeling vaguely sick, or extremely tired, in one way or another since about last Thursday).
Today I'm a bit woozy, although I suspect that's just being hungry. I don't know *why* I'm hungry, it's not like I haven't eaten a two-sandwich-sized Tupperware of quinoa-romano!bean-lentil-mushroom pilaf plus a banana, two muffins and a little container of red pepper slices today.
But I'm famished.
Hungry as hell.
And craving sugar and fat like nobody's business.
I'm seriously considering both (A) buying a smoothy to get me to, through and from Therapy, and (B) also buying a bunch of heavily discounted cheap valentines day chocolates. :-\
I definitely want to pick up some soy milk tonight (I've got about 1L left, and that'll probably go into a cream sauce tonight).
I mean, hell. If I'm picking up soy milk (from the H&S, 'cause I seriously doubt that the Loblaws on Isabella will have such a thing), I may as well splurge on tofutti sour cream and mix it into the sauce. Yeeg. (Granted, a soy yoghurt would have the same effect, but still. We'll see which one is cheaper).

But, yeah. Hungry. Wanting junk food. Also kind of wanting rye toast with butter, or white toast with peanut butter and butter. Which are, essentially, the same thing as junk food.
Fat!
Carbs!
<*is very, very hungry*>

It's about 2:30 right now.

I need to find the most recent copy of the Course Agenda (for the course I'm working on), proof-read it, and print out a copy. (And then make 45 copies and go over them with a high-lighter for everyone involved).
Whee! :-D

I'm done in one hour and fifteen minutes! :-)

Yes, yes.

That's erotic poetry written in lolcat!speak.

Because the angle makes the reading tricky:

sharp bite and bare beauty
wif sweet worship
she pleases me

thx honey
i loves you

In other News, I wrote this up this morning:

So, I’ve been reading Zen Habits, specifically an article about natural work rhythms. It talks about how what matters is getting the work done, not how many hours you clock.

Which got me thinking about my job.

See, I’ve spent the last two days doing low-key, simple work that, seriously, has taken *maybe* six hours. Total. I have clocked, however, about 16.5 hours (including this morning, up to the time of writing this).

Now, I’d have been quite happy to, say, turn up at 10am on Monday, go home at 2pm, and do the same thing yesterday and today.
And, were I on an annual salary, I could probably get away with doing that, at least for a little while, provided my work was getting done. Which it would be. (If necessary, I could just call it “working from home” and come in to do the printing or to deliver stuff or whatever, and otherwise just stay home, write my poetry and/or stories and not feel like I had to keep looking over my shoulder while doing it).
However.
I am not on an annual salary.
My wages actually *are* dependent on how many hours I clock every day.

Seriously.
I spent most of yesterday afternoon writing blog posts and half of yesterday morning browsing fashion blogs online (thank goodness I’ve found some non-blocked sites, good gravy…).

Mcwetboy has told me about how he was able to work a three-day week (at $26/hour or similar), in part because he got as much done in three days as other people were getting done in five.
I like this idea a lot – particularly if those three days don’t have to be the same three days every week. (I like this because it would mean I could do Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday of one week and Wednesday-Thursday-Friday of the next, if I happened to want six days off in a row).
Getting my Secret Clearance and my B-level on my French oral exam would definitely help get to this point, I think.

Anyway.

In other news, I’m thinking of doing something like NaNoWriMo – except that it would be seven weeks long, or there-abouts.
The plan is to write between 1000 and 2000 words a day (week-days, anyway) between February 25th and April 10th (which is about 34 days, I think, if I don’t do weekends). The idea is to write a story – a novella or a collection of connected/related short stories, or something – during the time that Sara is away.
While work is still slow, I can do it here (in part), but once it picks up, I will still be able to do it at home.
This will give me a way of occupying my time while she’s gone (YAY, distraction!) and give me something to tell her about as I write it, AND it will mean that I’m actually writing again, and doing something personally enriching which will help me feel like I’m actually doing something and/or getting somewhere with what I personally want out of life.
At least this is the plan.
The stories will all take place in that hedonistic pleasure-world I started writing about last week. I figure I can use this week to sort out characters and raisons d’etre and so-on, figure out what the dichotomies and conflicts are going to be, and so-on.
I’m aiming for highly sensual stuff as well as eroticism.
I’m also aiming to present sexwork as something that isn’t miserable or full of lies, even though it’s *totally* about glamour (in the sense of Creating Illusions).
I’m also wondering if I can work a fair bit of magical-realism (or something) into this, as my original idea (I came up with this setting in, like, 2003. I just haven’t done anything with it yet) involved the Hedonistic Place being something of a sanctuary for vampires and fairies and other seductively non-human folks who don’t do well in sunlight. Fairies seems like a better bet – allows for more diversity, and they *are* naturals when it comes to glamour and midnight revels. :-)
Anyway.

This is my plan. I think I will work on character sketches today.
