Last night was awesome! :-)
I spent a good twenty minutes waiting for the #8 at Walkley road station, and I watched the moon come up. I sang for the moon and the birch and sumac (that, frankly, look like an impressionist painting down there!) and the long, long evening procession of crows moving north across the sky.
I sang some more after I got off the bus, while I was waiting for people to turn up for Schola.
(People listened. It was nice. ;-) I think the singing actually helped me with the class. It was the banishing-and-calling class, so there was lots of Saying Stuff in an Authoritative Voice going on.
I got to cast the circle.
And it worked!
And people were able to see/feel/ken what kind of a circle I was casting (silk-ball, basically - people got 'rippling' and 'tent' and 'water', all of which were very suited to the stuff I was putting up and drawing around). Also, apparently my voice sounded like I was talking through a pipe.
How cool is that? :-)
So YAY! :-D
(Seriously! So much of me is - still - go "Eeee! I can *do* this! It's not just my imagination! Woohoo!)
I got to banish Earth (I took the time to explain what was going to happen so that the elemental/s wouldn't be all, like, "Wait, what??" about the whole thing). And I think that worked.
I'm getting the feeling that having a big body and a big a voice help with this stuff.
At least it seems to convince the humans in the area that I mean business. ;-)
I then got to call in Air - who came. (At least I'm pretty sure Air came). I heard a "Yes, Ma'am" from somewhere behind me - one of the guys, possible Steph - so I'm assuming that was a confirmation that, yes, Air had arrived. So good.
And then we did cakes and wine, and then I got to say goodnight to Air (who left without any trouble - at least that seems to be the case), and Earth. :-)
It worked!
And no-one was pissed off. (Except Dillon, but he's quitting smoking and hadn't eaten anything all day due to fasting, so that's kind of understandable).
Additionally, I was able to pick up on the stuff other people were doing. with some small degree of reliability. Which is awesome, 'cause usually I'm, like, "Uhhhh... I kinda *think* I felt something, but I could have just been the [candle/overhead light/breeze from the window/etc]". So that's good, too. :-D
Also: Michelle kick's my kitchen-witch's ass. My gods, that gal can cook! She's awesome! :-D (And she gives me toffee and chocolates! ;-)
Also: Haha. I made Dillon cheer up by the end of class. :-) Hehehe. :-)
It was a good night, last night. :-)
In related news: I also did the house-cleansing ritual that we were assigned for homework.
However:
Rather than going through the house with salt-water, and then incense, and then milk-and-honey, and then wine, and then noise makers (ickickickickick), I did the 'abridged version'.
First, I cleaned the freaking kitchen. Because (1) it really needed it, and (2) I'm not about to invite a bunch of deities and spirits and ancestors and what-not into a house with a damn messy kitchen. It's just not happening, end of story. (It's an issue I have. Deal with it).
Anyway.
Then, I cast my circle - in my kitchen - (no problem), with my incense (cedar-wood). I wandered all over the house, talking (in my head) about what I wanted to be *in* the house, and what I wanted to remove. I opened the windows to facilitate this.
Then I went around again with a dish of honey and smeared it over the windows and doors that lead to the outside (including the chimney and the range-hood). I also honeyed the bedroom door and the kitchen door, since those can always use the extra help. :-)
I bid the elementals and everyone else farewell (and said 'stick around if you want to help out', basically), and then I vacuumed while waiting for the last of the incense to burn down. Lastly, I put out the candles and said "Hurrah! That's done!".
And that was the end of that.
And, this morning, I'm noticing that the house does, indeed, feel lighter and airier than it did yesterday. :-) So I think that worked, as well. :-)
Randomly: A couple of the guys at Paul's Aikido studio really like the bag I made him, and are wondering what I'd charge to make similar items for them. :-) Cool! So I need to hit up fabric land and price out some material and such like. :-)
Anyway. Tonight is the Witches' Gathering - I'm not going. Which I'm mostly okay with. ;-) I *do*, however, want to see everyone's pictures after the fact. :-)
I'm going to the Nano kick-off party on Sunday. Paul still hasn't decided if he's doing Nano or not, but he's not planning on coming to the party, either way. (He's becoming rather reclusive -- by my standards, even -- and it's starting to kind of worry me... Hm...)
Still trying to sort out what I'll be doing for my birthday.
I *know* I'm going to the Oh So Good write-in on Wednesday the 7th (because, hey, social atmosphere and *cake* being held *on my birthday* is just too convenient to pass up. ;-)
Beyond that... Still thinking Highlander on, like, the third. Or, possibly, the 4th. :-) I'll figure it out and send out e-mails. :-)
- TTFN,
- Amazon. :-)
