Okay. These two women are brilliant.
Least ways, I really like their girl-writing in Brazen Femme. Kathryn's "Whores and Bitches Who Sleep With Women" is a marvelous discussion of sex-work as empowerment (based on first-hand experience) - which, I have to say, leaves a much better taste in my mouth than XXX: A woman's Right to Pornography did, even after I got over my "must throw across room" urges - while Leah's "Gonna Get my Girl Body Back" (and her "On Being a Bisexual Femme" in Femme: Feminists, Lesbians and Bad Girls) sing a song that is remarkably familiar to me, despite my being white, middle-class and emphatically not an incest survivor.
They are both bi girls.
They are both Canadian (Kathryn by birth, while Leah moved here from the states some time ago).
They are both published poets.
I have just happily bopped over to amazon and purchased copies of Kathryn's Longing at Least is Constant and Leah's Consensual Genocide, which should be here in the next couple of weeks.
I am, I confess, giddy with anticipation and fangirlish glee. :-D
I think I will try to write some poetry of my own today. We'll see where that takes me. :-)
- TTFN,
- Amazon. :-)
