So, I'm at my mom's again.
She's away in Toronto for the weekend, with her fella.
I have volunteered (as she did for me) to help pack stuff up while she's gone.
What I'll actually be doing is "staging" - as in moving all of the various boxes of Stuff To Be Downsized into one room, so that they're out of her hair when she's trying to pack up other Stuff To Be Downsized. (She got about four weeks to get this sorted out -- Can she do it? Yeah, probably. ;-)
In other (related) news: My sister *is* moving back to Ottawa. Woohoo! So *my* down-sized furniture and my *mom's* downsized furniture can go - in part - to her. Which is gread, because she needs Actual Apartment (as opposed to just bedroom) furniture, plus her own bed ish shot to hell and she could do with a new one. Of which we have... gods... six to choose from).
Golly.
So she's going to be yoinking my tv-armoire, my drop-leaf table, my record-player, and the last of my vinyl, PLUS potentially my mother's bridge chairs (for said table - though she may take the bridge table, too), and my mother's queen-sized four-post (canopy, but with no actual canopy) bed. And who-all-knows what else.
At any rate, she won't want for furniture, and she won't have to transport a Huge Bed from TO when she moves, which will make things easier/cheaper than they would have been. Hurrah! :-)
In still other news: I have a job for monday. Oh, thank goodness! (It's only two weeks, but it's $13/hour, so all is not lost. Plus it buys me an extra two weeks of groceries, so yay. :-)
My now-ex co-workers, by the way, made me a good-bye angel-food-with-peaches (and maple boiled icing) on Friday, and (this is the big deal) gave me $60 worth of grocery store gift cards.
I realize that the last two paragraphs may have, in fact, been written almost-verbatum yesterday, too, but it's quite the big deal for me to (A) still be employed and (B) be able to go out to Brunch tomorrow because I've got a $10 gift card to cover the grocery money that said Brunch would be eating-into. :-D
Yay! :-D
My house still looks good.
It's also still on the market.
I want someone to hurry the hell up and buy the damn thing, dammit! :-P
That said: I spent this morning praising my garden (while aggressively pruning the grape vines -- which are starting to *fruit* (finally) I might add -- and pulling out the extra squash and morning glory sprouts that I didn't catch when they were little), as well as doing other Random Tasks around the place to keep it looking spruced. :-)
(Still need to (A) Vacuum, and (B) wash the cupboard-interiors in the basement bathroom.
But otherwise, it looks quite spiffy. :-)
That said, I'm not gonna do that for a while.
Heh.
Part of me wants to dig through my change (I've got a bag of nickles and dimes, litterally, in my purse, that I used to get deoderant the other day, and I've still got some left) and see if I can swing an italian soda or something that would grant me a table at a cafe for an hour or two while I do some writing.
Then again, I could just hang about on my mom's porch, and accomplish the same thing, cash-free. :-)
My back is fucking killing me, just so you all know. (That's menstruation for you. :-P)
Anyway. There's Stuff To Do (plus I'm going to nab some of Mom's food for lunch - probably eggs and toast), and then I go and bug people. :-)
- TTFN,
- Amazon.
