I have an apartment.
I signed the lease today.
I get the keys next Friday.
I paint next Friday (evening). And, potentially, Saturday morning.
I move on Saturday (late afternoon, and into the evening. My sister and I are picking up the truck at 3pm).
I need to pack.
Granted, I'm mostly packed as it is. But I need to pack the last of it.
Which will be a bit of a balancing act between getting everything packed up quickly and keeping stuff out so that I have, like, clothing and cooking utensils and such-like.
I'll have to give Shelley a shout and see if she (and her car and driving ability) is available to play chauffeur for paint-pick-up one of these days.
I will need primer. For one wall (because said wall is horrific, eye-burning lime-green). The rest of the walls are white.
They will become "Penelope Pink" which is a pinkish, sandy off-white colour that will go beautifully with everything and not look too beige.
I have to okay to paint the bathroom "Elise" (the forget-me-not blue that graces my current residence's upstairs bathroom cupboards) so that it will continue to match my towels and my shower curtain.
The kitchen is staying as-is, because (shamowly...) it's a riot already, and what little bits of white are left are getting *left*.
I have decided to opt for vibrantly coloured curtains (in dark teal and deep purple, respectively) for the bedroom and living room, because that will make things much less of a hassel to deal with later.
So, I am relieved.
I am also considerably poorer than I was two and a half hours ago.
But (on the plus side) I have somewhere to live. And the first (half) month's rent is already paid. So yay. :-)
This does mean that I seriously hope I've got some work coming to me SOOOOOOOON! (Have bugged my temp agencies. Will be bugging them again on Monday -- Must also contact City of Ottawa, get my tax info, and pay my Final Bill. That last bit I'm a tad worried about, given that I've now got less than $1000 in the bank. But I can sort that out, I'm pretty sure).
Anyway. Disaster averted.
I also have a new computer. A lap-top from the Trailing Edge.
I need to get some software onto it (MSword, possibly Excel, definitely Windows Media Player, hopefully Photoshop and possibly 'paint' or something super-simple like that).
The photoshop, I've got.
It's the rest I need to get.
Firefox (and Thunderbird, if I feel like it) and AVG and such-like, I can yoink online for free -- and/or (ideally) transfer it from my current computer[1] 'cause I'm not sure how to get *online* if I don't have a web-browser already... Uh...
you get the idea.
And I have to transfer all my data over. Possibly going through it all and getting rid of the stuff I know I won't be using later would be a good idea. ;-) Weed out the music files and the picture files and the rest of it all. (Good thing I didn't close the box with all my computer stuff in it).
Anyway. So today has been a fairly productive day.
I now have 2.5 hours before Umi Open Mic. So I need to scoot on home, grab some dinner (or something dinner-esque) and scoot back out again in short order.
Must polish the poetry, too. Hm. ;-)
- TTFN,
- Amazon.
[1] Yes, I bought a laptop despite the fact that my CPU is, in fact, fixed. It's a space-saving thing, plus I don't doubt that this one would conk out on me after a year, just like it did before, so upgrading now seems like a plan.
