Lioness (another poem)

Wrote this last night, while at Umi. :-)

Lioness

desert cat slinks, tawney,
outta texas
leaving dallas far behind as
she heads north towards
greener pastures

she finds her skin in ohio,
changing one mane for another
heading north and east again
carrying truth
like nectar, under her tongue

desert cats stalks, silent,
under cedars where
air is thick with water and mosquitos
but the mists part where she passes

like Sekhmet, she caries
the sun under her skin
heat like a furnace
in the memeory of her flesh

steam rises
in the hollows of her footfalls
stalking goddess
with summer in her blood
