Hey, Everybody!
I spent Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in Toronto making a CD of TSivia's medieval music! :-D
I got to meet Heather Dale (who is just aboslutely delightful!) about-whom I have raved in journal entries past, I'm sure. (Failing that, I did a review of her "May Queen" CD in one of the Monochrome Beasts).
While in Toronto (which, as a city, I think I really quite despise. It's *far* too big. It takes you an hour to get anywhere. It's rediculous), but while there, I discovered a really handy thing you can do with solfej -- that is do-re-mi-fa-so, etc. -- You can write down the tunes of music without having to write notes!
How cool is that?
Or worry about keys!
How cool is that?
I think it's faboo! :-)
And I've spent the last two or three days writing songs! :-)
I have written:
- A "love-aby", which still needs one more verse, but is otherwise quite lovely (in my oh-so-unbiased opinion. ;-)
- The beginings of a song about an Ealdermere (sp) Scout who's saying prayers to Orion the Archer (hey, I've spent the better part of a week singing ra-ra-Ealdermere songs, I was bound to come up with *one*).
- A Winter Solstice song (apropriate for today)
- A song about a Rusalka (which is *far* from finished)
- A song about my Dad qua River Spirit -- which is actually sounding vaguely baptismal in theme, so I may be able to get away with singing a song for my Dad in a church service. Which would be kind of cool. :-)
This is more songs than I've ever written, ever.
I think this is *so* cool! :-D
In other news:
I will be spending the entire day cooking (with the exception of about two-three hours in the afternoon when I'm at an xmas lunch, and about two hours in the morning, when I'm getting extra groceries).
I have a couple of salsas to make, plus a pumpkin soup, a broiled vegetable "medley", and cider-baked pears.
And I have to get some wine. (Well, I don't *have to*, but I'd *like* to. We've got some boxed-wine on our back porch, but I don't know how long that will last).
Anyway, as it is still snowing out (which is pretty), I shall throw on some warm clothes, and hopefully catch a lift over to the grocery store (well, *near* the grocery store) at about 9am, so that I can get a haul of groceries and bus back home before I (hehe) make the trip all over again to go for the lunch. ;-)
Anyway. I'm off to write up my list. :-)
Happy Solstice (and Happy Hogswatch to those who practice. ;-)
- Nam'ara. :-)
- Amazon. :-)
