Greetings, all.

Here is a post for those of a Pagan persuasion.
I've written a bunch of Yule songs and I am so absurdly pleased with them that I thought I would post them here for you all to see. :-)

Please note: The tunes have been written in solfej (sp) -- do-re-mi, etc.
If a note has an * beside it (e.g.: So*) it is below the central scale of Do through Ti, while if it has an ' beside it (e.g.: Do') it is above the central scale of Do through Ti.

Happy Solstice to all, and I'm off to make ginger-snaps and mulled wine. :-)

In the west the light is waning,
Starlit, all that is remaining,
But though Winter weather's storming,
Here the fire is bright and warming,
And the company is true.

Snow is falling faster, thicker,
In the darkness, candles flicker,
Though the night grows ever colder,
Gathered here, both young and older,
We are calling back the Sun.

Snow on snow is ever heaping,
Underneath, the Earth is sleeping,
But, though cold snow, still, is falling,
We, the new Sun, now are calling:
Rise again, Oh Flaming One!

JOYFULLY SING

Joyfully sing---! Joy-ful-ly sing---!
mi so la so--- | la- do' re' do'---

Joyfully sing of the Sun— rise---!
mi're'do' do' re' mi' | re'-ti so---

Joyfully sing! Joyfully sing!
Joyfully sing of the Sun's return!
She brings new Life, and Summer's Light,
For which we so long have yearned!

Joyfully Sing! Joyfully Sing!
Joyfully sing of the Sun's ascent!
She is the Rose, She is the Flame!
‘Round Her the darkness is rent!

Joyfully sing! Joyfully sing!
Joyfully sing of the Sun's rebirth!
Ring out the bells, for She returns,
Dancing with joy and with mirth!

SONG OF THE LONGEST NIGHT

Oo------ | Oooooo--
La--, ti-- | do-ti la--,

Oo------ | Oooooo--
do--, re-- | mi-re do--,

Oo------ | Oooooo--
ti--, do-- | re-do ti--,

Oo------ | Oo----

Hush, Child, | Night descends,
Falls o'er | All the world,
Stars dim, | and-all light ends,
All remains in | Sha-dow...

Hush, Child, | Hear the wind,
Crying | In the night,
Cold and | All unkind,
Chills us to the | Bone...

Hush Child, | Smell the snow
Flying | On the wind;
Bitter | Miles to go, be-
-Fore we reach the | Light...

Hush, Child, | Feel the cold,
Know it | In your bones;
Warm wings-shall, | you, enfold
Though the night is | long...

Hush, Child | Taste the spice,
Mulled in- | -to the wine,
Cuts-the cold-of | Snow and Ice,
As the night is | End-ing...

Hush, Child, | See the light,
Rising | In the East,
Thus Ends-the | Longest Night,
Glory to the dawn! (Picardy third)
