I slept for twelve hours.
I wasn't expecting that.

In more interesting news:

I'm going to Alberta on Thursday. :-) Must figure out how to pack four days worth of clothing (& shoes) into a carry-on bag. I think I can do it. ;-) Must also remember to bring my shoes home from work on Tuesday. :-)

Paul and I are thinking of getting a DVD/CD/mp3 player for the living room. I was thinking it would be a good idea to get a DVD player eventually (aka: register for one and let someone else pay for it ;-) but then this came a long, and it would (in theory) let us play down-loaded movies. Since Paul has a lot of those, it seems like a good idea. Plus the mp3 part would let us provide about 12 hours of music for a (less than 12 hour) wedding reception. Which would be good. :-)

Also, I went to a semi-SCA thing last night. That is, I went to Shelley's birthday party, to-which we were encouraged to wear "Garb". I went as a Celt (theoretically of noble lineage, although I really don't know) from about the year 800(CE). It was a fairly easy outfit to make (and I didn't end up having to buy any more fabric! Yay!), and it meant that I could wear my hair loose and still have fun with eye-liner (teal this time, rather than black).

I used old ball-chain (the kind that people use to hang their bathtub plugs from?) and two really huge black buttons to make decorative "brooches", and wore steel bracelets (from a craft store -- I think they're really for making dream cathcers or something) because they're the right size and they clink convincingly. :-)
And I embroidered the hem of the tunic/chemise/whatever-it-is (made of baby-blue broad cloth left over from making curtains) with red embroidery thread (just lines and triangle-things) and stitched little silver bells all along the (front) hem as well.

I think I managed to scare some guy at the restaurant. (Apparently he wasn't expecting a warrior maid from the Orkney Islands -- or thereabouts -- to take a wrong turn by his booth. ;-)

Paul and I may go and see Kingdom of Heaven tonight. But it's not a sure thing yet.

Anywhoo. I must go and work on conference stuff. :-)

- Nam'ara,
- Amazon. :-)
