1)Total number of books owned?
Hundreds, and growing.
There's ~110 books (not counting course-packs and other spiral-bounds stuff, or library books, or borrowed books) in my half of the office alone. At least double that in the bedroom, and triple that in the living room (not counting music books). Yowza.

2)Last book I bought?
Um... The last one that arrived in the mail was "Deeply into the Bone" a book about creating rituals, by Ron L. Grimes. So I'm assuming that's the last one I bought. :-)

3) Last book I read?
The last one I finished was "The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents" by Terry Pratchett. The most recent one I read at all was... either "Edible Plants" (Forey and Fitzsimons) or the Dorling Kindersley Handbook "Gemstones" (Hall).

4) Five Books that mean a lot to me?
"Reaper Man" and "The Wee Free Men", by Terry Pratchett. Because they have great theo/alogy in them, and they make my heart sing. And... They're just right.
"Tarzan" by Edgar Rice Borroughs (whose name I can't spell worth a darn) because, when I was about ten years old, it showed me that books were frikkin' amazing.
"The Enormous Egg" (sp) by an author whose name I can't remember (And can't look up because my Mom still has it). Because it was one of my favourite stories as a kid, and it's an heirloom (my grandfather read it to my dad, and he read it to us -- we actually have a family photo featuring us all gathered around Dad who is reading that book out loud), also it made me love triceratops(es). They're still my favorite. :-)
"A Picturesque Tale of Progress, V1: Beginnings". Because it was one of my favourite bed-time story-books (even though it's something of an encyclopedia) when I was little. There were stories in it about prehistoric people (in Europe), and about Ancient Egypt (mythology, and anecdotal stuff, and stories, and all sorts of stuff along-side actual historical events). It totally rocks! (And I wonder how I wound up doing anthropological studies of religions. ;-)
