So, I had dinner with Ami_B tonight.

Thank goodness. :-)

We did a lot of talking, as we always do, went deep and I ended up shaking. Big talking.

It was good. It helped.

Thanks, sweetie. :-)

Wrote this when I got home:

Away From You

My back is turned
away from you, my mind
stretched out to cyberland,
reaching
for a mind,
a heart, like mine.
My back is turned, away from you,
My heart stretched out towards Finland, Germany, Oklahoma, BC,
Anywhere but here
with you.
My back is turned away
from you,
My heart
peers (back) over my shoulder,
and watches
your. every. move.

I am writing this post from the comfort of my spiffy new desk which, unlike my old desk, is NOT in danger of immediate collapse! :-D

(My husband gives me neat stuff! ;-)

So, last night, while I was out having a fabulous time, chatting about perfume and neovictorian steam-punk zombie appocal...ai(?) and messed up former tenants; my fella was at home, slaving away in the office, building me this spiffy new desk. :-)

It has nice big storage drawers in it (which is good, because the actual desk-top isn't that big), and it's ROCK SOLID! :-) So now I just have to clean up (and CULL!!!) the stuff on the other desk (the side-desk, the pretty-but-not-so-useful one that my knees don't fit under) so that I can store all my other stuff properly. :-)

Gotta call Reyl and let him know when to meet me at South Keys for brunch. :-)

So.
I was late for choir yesterday morning, BUT I made it, and had a good time (and got to sing the soprano 1 line in one of the songs - Whee!).

I'm starting to figure out why singing christian music ticks me off so much.

Because it's not the singing that ticks me off. The christian music we do is *beautiful*. We do a Brams piece ("The Lord is my Shepard") which is peaceful and lovely and has gorgeous chord progressions and everything. We sang through a Mehndelson (I've just spelled the poor fellow's name wrong) piece today that finished on a fabulous finale of overlapping runs on the theme of Alleluia. It's such a thrill to sing.

So the music is not a problem. I quite enjoy the music.

What I Don't Like... )

On a more creative note: I spent yesterday afternoon making jewelry (while watching "Erin Brokovitch") for Naamah's save-the-carnivores charity auction.

What I Made )

I'm fairly happy with how they turned out. :-)

Now I need more crimps. :-)

While I was a Sassy's yesterday (between choir and home, picking up the gray jasper and the charms) I also picked up a string of slightly-buttery amber chips.

So now I have all my pride-colours sorted out. :-)

red shell, amber, green aventurine, turquoise, lapis lazuli, & amethyst. Yay. :-D

So I can play around with that today. :-)

More Fun With Crafts )

Anyway. Tonight is Louis' T-party -- <*blink*> I think that turned into a pun. Woops...
Right. party. So Teh Husband and I shall have an early dinner (Around 5pm) so that I can head out and be down town for 7pm (and home again by nine, for sweet, sweet sleeping).

I'm hoping to squeeze in a long, luxurious bath (YAY!) and a massage from Teh Husband (YAY!) between now and then. :-) (Hey, I've got seven hours 'til dinner starts. I'm sure I can fit them in). :-)

I'd *also* like to get writing the actual Scene scene in my BDSM story.
I am, however, a little unsure as to how to proceed.

See, I've done something that is potentially very unlikely.

The Situation )

Suggestions?
Please? :-)
Today started out like this:

alarm clock: <*wakes us up, but apparently not very well*>
Muzzy!Paul: Can you turn that off?
Sleepy!Amazon: Huh? Isn't it Saturday? <*turns off alarm*>
M!P: No, it's Monday. I'm pretty sure it's Monday.
S!A: But how can it be Monday if I was at work yesterday. And you had Aikido...
M!P: Ohh, yeah... So it's Tuesday.
S!A: Yes. Tuesday. ... Eugh. I have to get up.
M!P: I'm going to have more sleeping.
S!A: Okay. <*gets out of bed*> 'I wanna have more sleeping, too!' <*pouts, blearily*>

It did get better from there, though, so all is fairly well okay. (I do still need to figure out Something For Dinner, though... Hm... I will have to check for chicken fingers in the freezer...)

Other things I did today:

Went to Venus Envy (which took me two tries to find, because yesterday I though it was between O'Connor and Metcalfe, not O'Connor and Bank... <*sigh*>... Seriously, I was wandering up and down that block, thinking: But it's Venus Envy... It's not like their the kind of store that hides what they're selling... In retrospect, I find this very funny. :-)

Anyway. I found the place today (The fact that it's located across from Ye Olde House of Bibles is... well, it made me smile, or possibly smirk, let's just leave it at that).

Went in for: Chocolate-mint-truffle lip massage balm.

Came out with:
The above-mentioned balm (problem: I can't seem to get the damn lid off the thing. Blast it!)
AND
Amazons: sexy tales of strong women (because, with a title like that, how could I pass it up?), which I hope will have a good mix of (what would you call this?) 'pornographic sub-genres'? -- I'm starting to come to the realization that I may be kinkier than I thought. (As in: I thought that I wasn't, and it's looking a bit like I was wrong). So I figure a mixed bag of erotic reading material might be a good place to look into things a bit more[1].
AND
Mating in Captivity which is about sexual desire in marriage, and where love and desire come from, and all sorts of other good stuff. I read the introduction on the bus home and, so far, I quite like it. It's not patronizing, it's not sugary, it doesn't Offend my Feminist Sensibilities, and it does mention a lot of things (including the statement about "wives who would rather live, for the rest of their lives, with the label 'low sex drive' than explain to their husbands that foreplay has to be more than the 'lead up' to the 'main event'") that is familiar. So I think this will be a good read. :-)

Anyway.

Things to Do Tonight:

- Come up with and prepare dinner. [ETA: Yes, we have chicken fingers in the freezer. That makes things MUCH, much easier. :-) ]

- Eat said dinner, with Paul. (I will have to ask him to pick up some Diana sauce tonight).

- Write 1000 words (2 pages or so) of BDSM story.

- If possible, read another chapter of Mating in Captivity. :-)

Tomorrow is the Canterbury Stars Return fund-raiser concert. My choir is performing (an hour past my bedtime... How Ever Will I Survive??? ;-)

In other news: We have a spiffy new door, with spiffy new hardware (and spiffy new keys, for said hardware), and our house is no-longer hideously ugly from the front-view. :-) Yay! :-D

My attempt at BDSM pr0n continues. So far, my main character (Angela) has made it to the introductory demonstration. We'll see where she goes from there. :-)

Department of Random Information: Y'know dried plums? They're much less sweet than both dried peach and dried pears (and dried apricots)... I don't know why this is, since plums tend to be sweet, too (in my experience, anyway...) Perhaps these were dried when they were under-ripe? I have no idea). Anyway, just an observation. Time for a shower and/or bath and/or watching a movie and then going to bed. Whee! :-)

[ETA: Oh, my goodness... There's an lj community for the Greater Granola. Who knew?

Good things that happened today:

1) I ran into an old friend from high school who is looking for a choir to join (and she sings alto, which we need), and she would like to join the CHS Alumnae choir (which, conveniently, will be starting to work on new repertoire in two, count 'em: two, weeks). So that is a nice piece of serendipity for me. :-)

2) Saw Dillon, Marie B, Steph and Tracey @ Brunch. Haven't seen any of them (other than Marie, who I sometimes run into on the bus) since the end of Schola, so it was lovely to see them all again (Marie D is pregnant! Wah! I had no idea).

3) Found someone to take the old luggage off our hands. Three cheers for Freecycle! :-D Hopefully they'll be able to pick it up tomorrow. :-)

4) Had dinner with Paul (who also helped significantly in getting rid of my headache - yay!). We even talked about stuff. Note: Not Talked About Stuff - just talked about stuff. But it was nice and pleasant and far more social than last night's dinner which was, pretty much, silent. So three cheers for being able to have a conversation every now and then. :-)

5) Had a shower! (Hurrah!) :-D No long, relaxing bath, but a shower is a lovely thing, regardless. :-)

6) Did laundry. I need to go and put it in the dryer, but I will definitely have clean socks for the next week, so yay. :-)

Tomorrow, I go in search of a GP (thanks Ami_B for the link to the find-a-physician website). :-) There's a lady with a practice that's not too far from me. (On a nice day I can walk it, on any other day, it's not a difficult bus ride, even if we move out of this area). So I shall try her. :-)

Currently, I'm tired. So it's off to bed with me. :-)
Good Evening. :-)

So, guess what? I just spent an hour trying on a bunch of my Fun Clothes to see if they still fit.

FYI? Most of them don't.
:-P

Fuck.
:-P

Not, I grant you, that I have buckets of opportunity to get gussied up to Go Out anywhere, but still. I think it's kind of sad.
For a number of reasons which, you lucky people, I shall now enumerate:
1) I don't get to go out as much as I used to.
2) I don't have to body I used to.
3) I'm feeling sad about not having the body I used to, even though I *like* the body I have now.
4) Not that most of those clothes cost me much (or anything, in some cases), but it's sad to have to get rid of them. :-(

I mean, I've got a really cute vinyl corsetty thing that *really* doesn't fit me any more. I get 'back tits' with it now, even at its loosest. Four years ago, it fit me fine with the laces done up so tight that the grommets touched. My pvc halter top thing hasn't fit in about two years. Same with my spider corset, my silver bodice and the red-roses bodice that closed using little bows all down the front.

Now, granted, switching to full/a-line skirts, well-structured, hip-length bodices and Things That Drape Prettily isn't exactly a hardship, and it's not like getting rid of old stuff won't make room for new stuff.
It's just sad. It's like, I dunno... getting rid of your "skinny clothes" -- it's like your admitting you'll never be able to wear them again. Getting rid of my clubbing clothes is like saying "I am now committed to a life of sitting at home and reading on all my Friday Nights. For Ever." Which is mildly distressing, even if I really like reading. :-)

In other news: A word on Pretty Boys in Eyeliner. )

On a Related Note (that WILL turn into a bit of a rant, I warn you):
I sometimes (often) wonder why my husband - who knows what colours look good on him, and which ones don't - none the less chooses to Not Care About That Stuff.
I will have to ask him.

The Ranty Bit )

Anyway. That's what's been on my mind today. :-)

I fear that I may be coming down with something. My eyes are bleary (or my vision is blurry, either way) and I have that Hot-Ick-Sick feeling in the back of my throat, and I'm really, freaking tired. And I want a hot bath.
But I must continue tidying up. Really, really, really. :-)

- TTFN,

[1] Yes, I know. The colour won't actually make you healthier. None the less, I've had royal blue make me *look* healthier on numerous occasions, which is a help when you have to Deal with the public, and want them to talk to you without giving you that "do I really want to be around this person? What if she's contagious?" look...
Choir went well.
Thank goodness.

And I don't screw up as much as I thought I did, so yay! :-)

After choir, I dropped into the Sassy Bead on Bank (which is right near where we do our rehearsals) and was able to make some exchanges.

What I brought back:
- Strand of mahogany obsidian chunks (left over from Explodingrunes' hammer necklace - which he liked, woohoo!)
- Strand of dark green jade balls _ strand of yellow onyx balls (too big for the pride necklace I had in mind - the balls I'd have been using for the other colours are smaller, and significantly cheaper, so I decided to say 'screw it' and get something else. I kept the red ones, though, which I have two strands of, for my 'Blood Countess' collar. Which should be quite snazzy. Hematite, or (possibly) onyx, will be the contrasting colour). :-)

What I got in exchange (+ an extra six cents):
- (much shorter) strand of snowflake obsidian (regular cut, not irregular chunks)
- another strand of red fossil (for the Blood Countess collar)
- a package of 5 silver/nickel magnetic clasps
- 26 small nickel balls
- A cowrie shell set in silver - very pretty and quasi ornate. Will likely become the center-piece of a nickel-&-shell!chips (and possibly pearls) princess necklace. It's really pretty, and I like it. :-)

the snowflake obsidian + about 14 of the nickel balls (plus a wodge of my hematite balls) + some of my grey Sculpey will become the "Frost Hammer" necklace -- I'm inclined towards donating this one to Gaia Gathering, for use as a door prize or a fund-raising piece or something.[1]

After that, I came home and ate. And watched "The Matrix". :-)
<*insert squeeing about Belinda here*>

To do with the rest of my evening:

Finish Dealing (however temporarily) with The Bedroom.
(Seriously. I just sorted and folded all of Paul clean clothes, for ease of moving out of the way? So many of his clothes are coloured for his office job - sage/beige/white - and so few are coloured for his skin tone... He needs blood-ruby-wine-garnet-cherry-crimson-burgundy reds. He has tomato/scarlet reds. He needs malachite/emerald greens and he has sage/olive greens. I feel this sudden urge to go shopping. For my husband. This might or might not be good. :-\ )

Anyway. His clothes are all on the client bed in the office now. Now to tidy up the rest of the stuff. (There's a lot of Stuff to deal with... Good golly...). Wish me luck! :-)

After I'm done with that, though, I get to have a nice long bath, with a book (not sure which, yet) and chocolate-mint bath milk. :-) Woohoo! :-D May re-dye my hair tonight, too. Not sure yet. :-)

And now for something completely different: A Meme. (Oh, the sarcasm...)

Or at least the results of a meme. This is what I got for the album cover meme that I ganked from Ami_B:

Third Crusade presents... )

You can thank Nelson Mandela for the spectacular album title, by the way. :-)

According to the "Random-Wiki Album Generator Meme", these are the songs: )

Anyway. That is all. Now I must go and do more bedroom-prep. :-)

[1] Note to Self: When next at Michael's, pick up:
- Hematite balls
- Shell chips (white/un-dyed)
- Citrine chips
- irregular pearls (un-dyed)
- Turquoise balls (maybe)
- Tiny onyx balls
- Fancy jasper chips
- Red jasper balls
- Shell balls OR tiny cowrie shell beads.

I need to figure out how to make my little Sculpey Goddess figures. :-)
Well, I got some... interesting... news last night.

Our tenant has given his notice. He's moving out in either March or April (depending on the weather and when he finds a place, I assume).

This involves making some changes to my plans for new furniture.

See, in the basement room, is my Enormous Desk.
And, since we'll have that space to ourselves in just a few short (in theory) months, there's not much point in me buying another desk if I'm only going to get that one back.

Paul and I will have to have a talk about how we're going to do all that, of course.

See, our original plan was to have a tenant until I was heavily pregnant and then Paul and Some Strapping Young Person would basically scrub the basement room sparkling and move the office equipment downstairs, while the former-office would become the soon-to-arrive baby's room (complete with a came-with-the-house hedge-hog-themed wallpaper border).

However since baby plans are (thank you, all my dear, sweet Ladies) mercifully on hold for now, this will not be the case.

Which means we have an empty room available for Something.

Potential Plans for 'Something' )

But that's what's on my mind right now. (Good thing I didn't order that new desk, now isn't it? ;-)

Time to go and eat some dinner (Paul's at Aikido tonight, so I'm having sausages).

Later, I shall post the next chapter of "Live Truly, My Heart" (more than two months after the last one went up, on Hallowe'en).

Goal for 2008:

1) Personal Credit Card Debt = GONE by the end of February.

2) Create Savings Account. At the beginning of March. Into-which will go the money that, until then, will have being (rapidly!) paying off said credit card debt.

3) Find some way of exercising that is (A) cheap and (B) reasonably fun and (C) doesn't involve staying up past my Bed Time (sadly said bedtime is between 8pm and 9pm, otherwise the obvious choice would be to go out to Re-Vamp every now and again, but c'est la vie).

Uhm... That should get me up to midsummer, at any rate. Beyond that, I'm not making any plans. :-)

I'm going to bed (at 7:22, for goodness sake...).

Happy New Year, you lot. :-)

We have a burst water-pipe.

...

Yeah. Happened just now. Paul's got a lift with the tenant to Home Depot to get replacement parts to fix the thing. Hopefully he will succeed, but until then, we have no water. (And I'm thirsty - we have lots of juice and eggnog and so-on, though, so that's okay - and will probably have to pee fairly soon. Good times!) :-)

<*blink*blink*>

Anyway. That's my at-home adventure for the day. :-)

Off to surf the internet, now. :-)

[EDIT: Pipes are fixed. Faucet (and toilet) are running just fine. All is well. Hurrah. Lots of laundry to do, but at least we've got the water running again. ;-) There will be pizza for dinner tonight. :-)]

( Nov. 14th, 2007 06:37 pm)
I'm writing to you from Paul's spiffy new laptop today. :-)

The reason for this, alas, is not so spiffy. My computer is doing That Thing again. Back in July (I think it was) it did this Thing wherein it would turn on, but only part way. Nothing would happen on the monitor. :-P
I ended up sharing Paul's computer for a week while it was in getting 'repairs'.

However, as it stands/stood, the repairs weren't necessary as nothing was (apparently, er) wrong with the computer.

Perhaps it was just tired or something.

Anyway, it's not the motherboard, I can tell you that much.

Yeah.

So it's doing that again. It was fine this morning, and when I came home and turned it on it was doing That Thing again. :-P

Hopefully this won't last.

I've written three 'installments' of my Nano novel in Paul's Thunderbird window, and sent them to myself. Granted, they don't appear to have turned up yet, so it's possible that this will all have come to naught.

In any case, this is rather disappointing because, hello, I'm going away for the weekend and need to get a *lot* of writing done before I leave. I'm currently a little bit ahead - if said e-mailed bits get through, I will have written (at least) my required 700 extra words to get me clear through tomorrow.
However that still leaves Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (basically, I have to hit 30K before I leave. Unlikely, but I'd like to get as close as possible). Which is a tad difficult when one's computer does not work. (BOO!!!)

So I'm a little perturbed, to say the least. :-P

I'm going to go and check my e-mail again, and see if the stuff got through. I can hope, anyway. ;-)

So, I had soprano sectional today.

It was nice.

We made some improvement, I think. And we also got to sit around Andrea's dining room table having croissants and tea. :-)

All to the good.

I quite like most of my choir-mates. We have a good time together.

(Are you sensing the 'but' lurking at the end of that sentence?)

Yes, there is one.

I don't get Andrea.

By which I mean "I get her completely, and she drives me a bit nuts because of it".

Andrea is rather like my husband, in that she's competitive and fiercely goal-driven.
She's rather UNlike my husband, however, in that she seems to be one of those folks who runs of frazzle - as in, if things aren't always low-level-going-wrong, she's not happy. She has to be tense or things are working right.
As such, she has a very confrontational manner... Like she's always fed-up with Something (whatever that happens to be). It makes it very hard for me to make small-talk with her, especially when I'm one of those people who shrivels up and hides at the first sign of conflict.

Anyway. She was complaining about how not everyone in the choir is in it for the winning of competitions, the way she is.
Which, frankly, makes me want to give her smack upside the head, to be perfectly honest. Like... Get Over Yourself. <*sigh*> Because, for a lot (if not all) the rest of us, the choir is a fun thing to do. It's pretty, challenging material that we get to sing with people who are as talented and skilled as we are, and who are roughly in the same age-bracket.
One of us brings her baby daughter (second of two) to choir every week.
One of us has five boys under the age of 15, and the choir is her one time a week (or, more specifically, every *two* weeks) when she gets some time to herself to do something she enjoys.
Some of us (okay, most of us) can't make it to every rehearsal.

<*sigh*>

She's a strong singer, and a hell of an organizer, but I can't help wondering if she'd be happier doing something like the Opera Lyra chorus, or something -- which would be equally challenging material, but would also come with performances and deadlines and suchlike, which would probably tickle her pink.
Anyway.
That's just my whiny, whiny thoughts on the subject. :-)

I'm going to go and have a nice, hot bath (with vanilla bubble bath, I think), now ('cause I'm feeling sore and cranky).

In random other news: Paul has made an Excel program which randomly generates characters. Including an enneagram (sp) number to give one a clue as to the character's personality type.
It's interesting and fun. (Not overly useful to *me*, per seh, but still fun. :-)
He's now working on a random-plot-generator.
:-)
I suggested that he sign up for Nano, and do it all by random-generation-programs.
He said "I'll think about it". ;-)

- TTFN,
- Amazon. :-)
Well... Today has been fairly productive.
By my standards, at least.

I posted two new chapters of "Live Truly, My Heart" (110 pages, and counting! Woohoo!) as well as an angsty Trin/Switch one-shot. Also, I had choir practice and tidied the kitchen.
Go me! :-D

I realize that, perhaps, my standards for 'accomplishment' are a bit low.
But, then again, maybe not. :-)

Of course, this is not the subject of this entry.

No. I want to gripe talk about Nano and why I do it.

Cut to Spare your Friends Pages )

On Fanfic and Its Uses )

Something to Try )

Anyway.

That's me Yammering away about Nano. Lot's of fun to be had this November. Yes, indeedy, yes. :-)

In other news: I will *not* be going to Brunch tomorrow. I forgot what weekend this is. ;-)
Instead of Brunch, I will be spending lunch time with my in-laws, and dinner-time with my mother. There will be mad amounts of turkey. Just insane. ;-)

Anyway. I'm absurdly tired now, so I think I shall toddle off to bed. :-)

- TTFN,
- Amazon. :-)
Things to do today.

1) Go shopping.
I need to get <*gasp*> a pair of pants. Actual pants. For choir. So I'm going to Tall Girl in about an hour (or so) to try on pants. While I'm there, I'll also pick up some socks ('cause I have very few short socks and I prefer to wear those with my boots) and, if I'm really lucky, a pair of clearance ballet-flats (in any colour, as long as they're cloth!) which I can then, er, reupholster in, like, black velvet, or something, for to make me some pretty, pretty work flats. Which would be exceedingly helpful, given the whole "Ack, I seem to be getting vericose veins" problem.

It would be nice to have more than one pair of useable shoes at a time. ;-)

I confess, I'm rather looking forward to this little excursion.

2) Get groceries.
We don't need much, but we're running low on a couple of things, so I may as well pick them up if I feel I have the time.

3) Make chocolate-chip peanut butter cupcakes. Just because I can. :-) I figure it'll be like reese's pieces in cupcake form. :-D
Here's hoping it works. :-)

4) Do Laundry. Oh, my gracious, do I *ever* need to do laundry. :-)

Things I've already done:

1) Unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher (still need to turn it *on*, but that can wait until, say, this evening).

2) Updated my fic-journal over at GJ (It's been a while. I've still got to put up the new Switch/Apoc fluff that I've been mucking about with, but "Live Truly", at least, is fully updated. Finally. Yay. :-)

3) Dealt with the Publow Trust form. (Must drop in mail while out this afternoon - probably while getting groceries, since the mail box is *right there*).

4) Figured out what to do for dinner.

5) Practiced grounding and centering. I think it's working. :-)
(I'll have to bug Paul and see if he can see what I'm doing energetically. Maybe he can see what my shield looks like, if it looks like anything at all. :-)

6) Changed billing method for Cable and billing address(ee) for Phone.
Still need to do so for the Hydro Bill (but I can't seem to do that online, so I'll have to wait and call them. Damn and blast).

In other news: Happy Celebrate Bisexuality Day to y'all. :-) Whee! :-)

<*Sigh*>

Just general sigh-ness.

<*shakes head*>

Well... You remember how a little while back I had a lousy day and got home to find a really nice e-mail in my inbox inviting me to write a government test?

Today was sort of the opposite of that.

I had a perfectly nice day, but got home to find:
1) A note from Paul letting me know that our July mortgage cheque bounced, and to contact my mother
2) A note from one of the would-be new board-memebers reminding me of tonights Owners' Meeting... Apparently one of my proxies was missing, and so I actually have to *go* tonight. This is not something to-which I'm looking forward, even if it does get me out of the house for a while.

Anyway. The mortgage thing is resolved - in so far as it can be at this point - at least until Paul gets home. We'll see if he wants to Talk About It[1].

I leave for the meeting in, like, 40 minutes.

Barbecued chicken for dinner tonight, I think. :-)

hopefully said meeting won't last more than, say, half an hour. 45 minutes at the most.

Wish us luck. :-)

[1] Talking About It always strikes me as a particularly useless activity. The mortgage cheque bounced. I know that. It's is in the past. What can I do about *right this minute* to solve the problem? I've already done it. What can I do to avoid having this happen again in the future? I'm doing that, too. Not that you necessarily believe me, but I am. What can *you* do to prevent this happening in the future? Damn-well make sure I have your contribution-cheque in my hand *before* the first of the month, rather than *after*. however I would like to think that this is *obvious*. Goodness, gracious me...

I have just purchased tickets to Loreena McKennitt's NAC concert. (Sept. 15th - a Saturday).

I am up in the cheap seats (where the sound is best). Balcony tickets = $40 + taxes and ticket-master fees and such-like.

Paul is playing "Antarctic Adventure" (A geographical and remarkably non-violent video game from 'Kalikovision', which he used to have as a kid).

I hate video games.
They make people angry and violent.
<*shudders*>

Anyway. Today, I have the day off, so I will do day-off type things like grocery shopping and story-writing. :-) (Part Twenty is up, btw - soon (I hope) to be followed by Part Twenty-One).

Unexpectedly, at 17" flat-screen is cheaper at the stores near my house than at the one in Bell's Corners.
Cool. :-)

To do today:

- Dye Hair
- Work on Boot (or, potentially, boots) while watching Some Movie or Other. Note: I found another spool of black thread! :-D Yay! :-D
- Figure Out Dinner. Since Paul is going shopping w/ his Dad today (shoes, belt, new tank of gas for the BBQ), this will (I hope) involve barbecuing something. If it does, this is good. It means that Paul will do the cooking. :-)

I don't think I will be going to Art In Strathcona today. (Sorry Ami. Good luck, though! :-D)

Last Night was dinner w/ Paul's family. It was nice to see my brother-in-law (who was in town for the day, basically). I wore my pants, and everyone went "Hey! You're wearing pants!" and said they looked good, which was pretty awesome.
They were still not totally comfortable, but I'm sort of starting to figure them out.
Handily, I didn't feel like I was in drag today.
I *did* feel unusually butch. But that's me for you. In my head, pants = menswear.
I can see the appeal of them for running, though. :-)

Anyway. Due to the aforementioned family visit, I am feeling somewhat all-peopled-out (and, as such, am starting to toy with the idea of getting a driver's license... only toying. But its usefulness is slowly becoming apparent. ;-)

Spent last night copying "Live Truly, My Heart" over to GJ. I'll do the same thing to IJ eventually. (Sorry to the GJ people for filling your f-list with fic!spam, btw. :-)

Anywhoo. That's it for me. :-)

Off to write Part Eighteen. :-)

I'm Hooooooooooooooooooooooome! :-D

The weekend was good. Large amounts of reading (Keri Hulmes' The Bone People - an excellent, if occasionally sad, book that everyone should pick up at some point, ideally soon) and writing (more Switch/Trin fic), as well as occasional swimming, doodling, and a random sing-along. :-)
I made Cake Number One for Paul's birthday.
It was chocolate-chocolate-mousse w/ raspberries as filling, and it was really good. :-D

Cake Number Two (due on Tuesday) will be Brownies with Stuff. But I'm not sure what stuff just yet. I'll be going out to do a Really Big Grocery Run on Tuesday (probably morning) in order to get stuff for the cake, as well as stuff for the cookies I'm making for Bernadette's kids. :-) Bulk Barn will be involved. :-)

In other news:
Happy Birthday (late) to Hyel. Go you! :-D
I have attempted to send you "Ain't No Other Man" via MegaUpload. Here's hoping it works. :-)

I had a grand old time this morning doodling up a drawing of a potential hobbit-style house (it would require 100mx100m of land, though - ideally river-front land, which is hard to come by around here), so it might be a bit tricky. But I can figure something out. :-)

Basically, the south-facing wall is all triple-glazed windows and solar-panels, and the rest is all three-to-five feet of earth with round windows set into it, that's terraced so that it can be covered with currants and blueberries and bramble-berries and roses and such-like.

I brought home a few bunch-berries and a few low-bush blueberries to attempt to seed in our garden. :-) We shall see how that turns out. :-)

We sat outside last night, the whole bunch of us (me, Paul, and Paul's mom, grandma, aunt and cousin - briefly joined by Paul's dad) and watch the sky for shooting stars.
It was so, so beautiful. :-D
(I saw two shooting stars, Paul's cousin, Megan, saw three. 'Tis the season for meteor showers, after all. :-)
<*sigh*>
I miss seeing stars in the city. It would be nice if we could figure out a way to cheaply and effectively cap all the street-lamps so that they only lit the ground rather than the night sky as well.
Anyone have any ideas? :-D

It is 7:52am

I "slept in" today. :-)

Paul and I are heading up to his family cottage (with his family) for the weekend in a couple of hours - I should, perhaps, do some laundry or something, but packing will have to wait until Paul wakes up - and I am responsible for bringing Saturday's Lunch and Paul's Birthday Cake.

So the Saturday-Lunch (chicken & Pasta Salad w/ peppers and mushrooms) fixings are in the fridge, in a bag, ready to go. The cake-base has been made, and is cooling downstairs. (I love the Joy of Cooking's 'Lightning Cake' recipe. :-) It takes half an hour to make, and two thirds of that is cooking time. :-)

Paul's cake is going to be a variation of our wedding cake (or a variation on a trifle), by the way: A chocolate-chocolate-chip cake base, with a mess of raspberries in/as the middle layer, and then the whole thing gets covered with chocolate mousse.
Whee! :-)

So that should be good. :-)

Things to bring:
Sunscreen
Bug spray
hat
bathing suit
towel
socks
nightgown
extra shirts
Books...

Meh... I figure out the rest as I go along. :-)

In other news: I am now certified as a first-aider (CPR level A) by the Red Cross, and know how to use an AED. :-) Go me! :-)
